Great or St. Gertrude Church

The Great or St. Gertrude Church in the Frisian place Workum is a three-aisled hall church.The late Gothic church of Workum came late 15th century (1480) by the addition of a chorus of the predecessor aisled church.This church was dedicated to St. Gertrude , daughter of Pepin the Elder . Shortly thereafter were transept built. Around 1515 began the replacement of the old ship aisled nave by the current ship hall . The work experienced stagnation in this turbulent period for Friesland because the struggle between the Schieringers and Vetkopers . In 1523, the work resumed. Finally decided in 1560 the western part of the ship to build. It was unfinished part of the restoration of 1939-1951 ended with a wooden west facade. With this restoration, parts of the original interior has been lost. At the southeast side, between the choir and transept a vestry was built, which also served as the Latin School of Workum.

St. Werenfridus Church

The Church of St. Werenfridus Workum is a Roman Catholic pseudo- basilikale cruciform church dedicated to Werenfried van Elst .The neo-Gothic church from 1877 , which replaced an older structure, was built after a design by architect Alfred Tepe , the four churches in Friesland built. The organ in 1884 by Adema from Amsterdam built. The tower is 65 meters high.The church has since 1976 monument and was restored during the period 1989-2003. The organ was restored in 2004. The Church was, because if this whopper monument was considered (a historic building that has a restoration backlog and extra money), an amount of 2.7 million guilders.

Waag

The venture of Workum was in 1650 built. It replaced an earlier crumbling walls. The location is on the market square next to the Mark St. Gertrude Church . The venture has a long canopy on one side.The building has a hipped roof with dormer on each side with a stepped gable . At the corners of the roof are four lions with a crest above a satyr . The facades are also stone weapons, including the municipal arms in the year 1650.

City Hall Workum

Jopie Huisman Museum is a museum in Workum that works of painter Jopie Huisman exhibits.The current museum is the second museum was opened in 1992 and expanded in 2001 . The museum was the first since 1986 in the antique Sled Wyck Huys. The collection includes drawings, paintings and collections.The museum is supported by the Friends. There is also the possibility of a 25 km long bike ride around the places on the work of Jopie Huisman be found and so important to him.
