How to Reach

By ferry

Sea SA Car & Passenger Ferries has temporarily suspended all services between Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula and Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula while a new ferry is constructed. Sea SA plans to resume daily services in early 2011, on the arrival of the new ferry Aurora.

By Car

Crossing the Spencer Gulf in just over 2 hours between Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula and Lucky Bay (near Cowell) on the Eyre Peninsula. Services scheduled to commence in early 2011. The 56 m Aurora ferry will carry 85 cars and 300 passengers.

Mad Keen Fishing Charters

Shop 15, Owen Terrace, Wallaroo, Mad Keen Fishing Charters operate two charter vessels out of Wallaroo Yorke Peninsula offering fully inclusive packages to individuals, groups and corporate customers. A speciality of the charter is landing big red snapper off Wallaroo.

Cutter Canberra

The Cutter Canberra' interpretive sculptor stands proudly on a hillside over looking the sea. The fishing boat called the Canberra was donated to Kangaroo Island sculptor Indiana James by well-known South Australian fishing identity Michael Angelakis who's family originally owned the boat.

Wallaroo Fauna and Wildlife Park

The Wallaroo Fauna and Wildlife Park comprises many species of fauna and birdlife, both native and introduced, all within a natural setting. Animals include deer, kangaroos, wombats, emus, peafowl, poultry, ducks, geese and much more. Time your visit for an hour before sunset and you may be lucky enough to see the animals at feeding time.

Wallaroo Heritage And Nautical Museum

Originally a post office, the museum features displays of the copper smelting era, postal and telephone history, religious and civic affairs, early pioneering personalities, industry, sport, entertainment, nautical display and general local history of Wallaroo.

Wallaroo Historical Walks

Take a two hour guided walking tour of historic Wallaroo, visiting all the important heritage sites including the old Post Office, old Bond Store, Cornucopia Hotel, Wallaroo Town Hall, Railway Station, Sonbern Lodge Motel, St Mary's Anglican Church, Wallaroo Primary School, residence of Caroline Carleton, Rotunda, Weeroona Hotel, Police Station and residence, Court House, Customs House, Hughes Chi.
