Vasteras City Hall

Vasteras City Hall is located about forty feet east of Svartan in Vasteras center and the city hall tower is 65 meters high, making this tower to the third tallest building in Vasteras, second only to the Vasteras Cathedral and scraper .Before construction began of Vasteras new City Hall so plans went on for many years in which an idea competition on the appearance and were held during the 1930s.The then city architect Sven Ahlbom presented the first sketches in the late 1940s.In August 1949 made the then City Council, the formal decision that the house would be built and in January 1953 began excavations along Monk Street.

City Park

City Park in the 1890s-style park in central Vasteras . The park is framed by the main bridge, Vasteras Theatre , Castle Bridge and the turbine casing and Svartan extension at Fiskartorget and Vasteras City Hall .City Park was added 1871-94 at the initiative of the tobacco factory AT Sundin, who wanted to smarten up the view from his house. He bought the land and tore down the buildings that were there and took then a walk park that he first called Sundinska park. The park was donated to the city with the condition that it would not be built on, although it was built a small pavilion for serving sponsored by Spirits Company 1884th Ten years later it was decided the entire area become city park, every building was demolished and the site was turned into a typical walking park.

Vasa Park

Vasa Park is the largest park in central Vasteras in Vastmanland. It is framed by the town hall , concert hall , train station , the Southern Ring Road, the Castle and City Hall .Originally the park was a royal garden at the former Monk Island , which Gustav Vasa had build year 1541st It opened to the public in the 1600s, when it was used for skittles and other diversions. By a royal letter of 1863 was allotted the garden in perpetuity to the city. It began when used as a bourgeois walking park, but was built at the same time and had the character of an English park . In doing so, providing the park could not bear claims to name the park anymore, why the park was renamed Vasa Park.

Vasteras castle    

Vasteras Castle is located in Vasteras next Svartan estuary and was Vasa royal residence until 1638 .Vasteras, formerly the Vastra Aros and was in the middle of the 1100s Episcopal. Vastra Aros was during the 1200s the main shipping port for the Bergslagen and together with Stockholm the main town in the Malardalen region . Over time, realized the need for a stronghold to protect the king's bailiff , but also served as a residence for the same. A core tower was built, at Svartan outlet, with four floors and the top floor was shooting. This tower is still standing in the current castle's northeastern corner.Vasteras became embroiled in bloody battles which led to the castle was enlarged and strengthened several times.
