How to Reach

By air

Skien Airport, Goat Ridge , serving airline Wild Duck , which has daily flights to Trondheim , Bergen and Stavanger . The airport was opened in 1952.

By train

The ski is the terminus for the railway line Vestfold line , which was completed in 1882. NSB has daily flights between Skien and Lillehammer . In addition, there are trains on Bratsberg Railway , between Eidanger and Notodden

By water

Telemark Museum

Telemark Museum is the cultural-historical museum of Telemark county.The beautiful mansion Southern Brekke is the heart of Telemark Museum, and is surrounded by the 36-acre Brekkeparken . Southern Brekke farm with side wings were built in the early 1800's in the Empire style. The park, which was built around 1815 in the English landscape style, is a large collection of old peasant huts, barns, attics and living from around Telemark. The museum also has a large collection of folk art from around the Telemark and an extensive selection of objects from the 1700's and 1800's .

Brekkeparken

Brekkeparken in Skien municipality is a 36-acre park on a hill just out of Skien city. The park is part of the Telemark Museum .Medieval Palace Southern Brekke forms the basis for the museum and Brekke Park. The site with the large main building, the wings and the park with gazebo, pavilion and duck-pond was from 1810 when Nils Aall bought the farm. The park was built 1815-16 in landscape style under the guidance of the gardener HC Pries.Rose Garden that was built around 1850 is the park's landmarks, in our time tilpantet with annual ornamental plants.

Southern Brekke farm

Southern Brekke farm is located in Skien , and is an important part of the Telemark Museum . The farm was separated from the northern Brekke around the year 1400 , and today's main building was built in 1780 . Last private owner of the house was a ship owner Nils P. Hoyer , before the museum acquired the building in 1909 .The main buildings are built in Empire style, and appear as they were when Niels Aall -owned building at the beginning of the 1800s

Henrik Ibsen Museum Skien

Henrik Ibsen Museum is located at the site Venstop in Gjerpen 5 km from Skien center in Telemark . Organizationally, the museum part of the Telemark Museum . This is the place where the author Henrik Ibsen lived permanently since he was 7 until he was 15 years old. The museum focuses therefore on the themes of childhood, upbringing and schooling, and shows how much this period in life is really meant for Ibsen's life and poetry later.

Skien Mission Church

Skien Mission Church is the oldest Free Church in Norway . The church is affiliated with the Norwegian Missionary Association , and is the Lie in Skien .
Skien Mission Church was founded in 1856 by the priest Gustav Adolph Lammers when he broke with the Church . The church was in a period called Bethany.Current pastors are Day Eiel Kristoffersen, Solveig Tufte Johansen , Linda A. Johannesen and Torbjorn Glenna.

City Hall in Skien

City Hall in Skien is a building that was built to be the city's new town hall , after the great fire of 1886 . The building was built in neoclassical style, was designed by architects Hagbarth Schytte-Berg and Peter Lauritz Lowzow . The building was completed in 1894
