By Air

Gautam Buddha Airport (IATA: BWA, ICAO: VNBW) is an airport serving Bhairahawa a municipality of the Rupandehi district in the Lumbini zone in Nepal.Rabin Sharma served as the chief of the airport until 2008.3 kilometers from the center—has daily flights to Kathmandu.

By Train

A narrow gauge branch of Indian Railways from Gorakhpur approaches the international border at Nautanwa, but passenger trains are infrequent on this line.

By Taxi

The alternative of taxi travel from the border crossing at Sunauli to Gorakhpur takes about two hours.From Sunauli, Siddharthanagar is only 3.5 kilometers.Total travel time is 12 – 18 hours from Delhi and 10 – 12 hours from Kolkata.

By Road

Siddhartha Rajmarg extends south to the Indian border at Sunauli and north through Butwal then into the hills through Tansen to Pokhara.In Butwal this highway connects with the east-west Mahendra Rajmarg across the full expanse of the Nepalese Terai.

By Bus

There is regular long-distance bus and truck service to Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Birganj, Nepalganj, Pokhara and other cities in Nepal; also to Delhi, India via Gorakhpur and Sunauli taking 24–30 hours.Transit options around the city and into surrounding areas include bus, minibus, unmetered taxicab and cycle rickshaw.

Lumbini Garden

around Lord Buddha's birthplace with numerous monasteries representing different nations.Approximately 22 km from Siddharthanagar.Lumbini as of 1997, is an UNESCO World Heritage Site specifically nominated for the international World Heritage program.The holy site of Lumbini has ruins of ancient monasteries, a sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient bathing pond, the Asokan pillar and the Mayadevi temple, where the precise place of birth of Buddha is located.From early morning to early evening, pilgrims from various countries perform chanting and meditation at the site.

Ramagrama

The stupa of Ramagrama is located roughly 25 km east of Bhairahawa, in the Nawalparasi District of Nepal.The only undisturbed original stupa containing relics of Lord Buddha.Built in 6th century B.C. and enlarged by being enveloped with bricks subsequently.The site includes adjacent monasteries.This site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on May 23, 1996 in the Cultural category.

Kapilavastu

was the kingdom of the Shakyas, Lord Buddha's (paternal) royal family.The administrative center of modern Kapilvastu District at Taulihawa is 40 kilometers west of Siddharthanagar or 18 kilometers beyond Lumbini.Many archaeological sites are within 10 km. of Taulihawa.Local roads are in good condition.UNESCO has declared Lumbini as a World Heritage Site, which is in Nepal.It is widely accepted that the Lord Buddha spent the first 29 years of his life in nearby Kapilavastu.

Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations.In 1989 more than 31,000 people visited the park and ten years later already more than 77,000.There are several lodges inside the national park offering full board and accommodation in combination with elephant and jeep safaris, rafting tours and guided jungle walks.The pioneer safari lodge is Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge which has been receiving guests since 1972, before the national park was established.Tiger Tops has developed standards for responsible conservation tourism and supports the “Long-term Tiger Monitoring Project” of the International Trust for Nature Conservation and anti-poaching units operating in the national park.On the edge of the national park Sauraha is a well-known spot for tourists. Accessible from the nearby Bharatpur Airport, Sauraha offers a choice of hotels, lodges, restaurants and agencies that organize day trips into the protected area.

Tribeni Ghat

on the Narayani River (known as Gandak in India) is an auspicious site for bathing.It attracts hundred thousands of pilgrims on Maghe Sankranti (Hindi: Makar Sankranti, approximately 15 January).

Valmiki Ashram

near Tribeni Ghat believed to be the place where Prince Siddhartha got down from his horse Kantaka and strode off on foot and into the jungles in his search for answers.

Devedaha

an archeological site 15 km. northeast near Khairhani village.The site is associated with the Koliyas, tribe of Lord Buddha's mother and one of eight tribes receiving corporeal relics after his death at Kushinagar.
