Castillo de Sax

Sax castle rises to 524 meters on a steep cliff that overlooks Sax and dominates much of the valley Vinalopo between Elda and Villena . The oldest remains found in the Pena del Castillo are Iberians and Romans , although the origin of the current strength is al-Andalus , probably Almohad . It is one of the three great strengths of the High Vinalopo , together with those of Villena and Biar , and part of the defensive line of fortifications.

Church of the Assumption

It is a single nave church and a Latin cross erected in the sixteenth century , whose age are remarkable late-Gothic elements, such as vault covering the nave. In the eighteenth century was added a classical coating, building an upper gallery, altars for chapels and shrines of the Communion and the Pillar. This amalgam of styles, the most interesting is the door north, Renaissance, referring to the nearby church of Santiago de Villena .

Ermita de San Blas

It was the old parish church before the construction of the Church of the Assumption, and is raised on the same site that the mosque of Islam. Its construction probably dates from the thirteenth century and is rectangular, which was later added an apse semicircular chancel. It now houses the image of St. Blaise , patron of the town.

Ermita de la Soledad

Ermita de la Soledad is Located on the present Plaza of Spain, is the only remnant of the ancient cemetery of the nineteenth century . retains the image of the Virgen de la Soledad, which is carried in procession during Holy Week .

Snow Pit

Snow Pit is Located on the north side of the Pena del Castillo, near the Costa Blanca . From the eighteenth century was used for the snow STORAGE which supplied the town in summer.

Santa Eulalia Colony

Colonia farm built in the late nineteenth century as a small town that still retains warehouses, factories, the palace and theater, among other buildings. In the Colony also stands the chapel of Santa Eulalia, Sax's former mistress.

Shield of the "Inquisition"

This is a coat of arms located on Main Street, carrying weapons of Josef Torreblanca, Sax was born in 1616 . was pastor of the church of Santa Catalina de Murcia and Commissary of the Holy Office of the Inquisition. In the house which retains the shield was founded in 1674 the Pious Works Torreblanca to marry the daughters of their lineage.

La Torre

Nature Spot ruined retaining Roman and Arabic and a house of pleasure and the church of San Pancrazio. In the area have found remains of an ancient Roman villa built by mid- century , with a peak period in the ages II and III and left to medadiados the fourth century . Sax Moors and Christians
