Museum of Headgear

was inaugurated on 22 June 2005 by the President of the Republic Jorge Sampaio and is located in Sao Joao da Madeira, on Rua Oliveira Junior.It is the only museum in the Iberian Peninsula for the manufacture of hats.Integrates the Portuguese Network of Museums and is a major cultural icons of Sao Joao da Madeira.It occupies what remains of him who was the most important building industry hat in Portugal, the Industrial Company of dresses Ltd.Founded in 1914 by Jose Antonio de Oliveira Junior, was at the time the largest factory of the Peninsula Iberian.He accompanied the entire history of headwear industry in Portugal since its mechanization in the early twentieth century, its heyday in the 40s, to the progressive decline from the 50's.Would end in 1995, the building was purchased by the City Council to implement the project of the existing museum.

Urban Park River Ul

is a modern public park located in Sao Joao da Madeira, Portugal.This is projected to be over almost the entire course of the river Ul, which runs through the city at its longest axis, north-south (about 4km).It is designed by the architect Pardal Sidonius, who also designed the Park City Port and was opened in 2007.With dimensions of approximately 300 square meters (about 30 football fields), is one of the largest urban parks in the country.The construction involved the adjustment of the park and extending the flow of the river, the construction of reservoirs as well as their cleaning, that satisfies the conditions for the reception of river beach.It was also a restored water mill discovered during its construction.The park contains several routes tarred conducive to sporting activities on foot or by bicycle.Thousands of trees that it presents mostly indigenous is another of its hallmarks.
