Rajoy Palace

Rajoy Palace, located in the Plaza del Obradoiro of Santiago de Compostela is the current headquarters of the Municipality of the city and the Chair of the Board of Galicia .Style building is a neoclassical , its construction was ordered by the archbishop of Santiago, Bartolomé Losada Rajoy , in the year 1766 in order to serve as a seminary for confessors. The French architect Carlos Lemaur was responsible for the work. On its cover you can see a representation of the battle of Clavijo and a sculpture of the Apostle Santiago . The Palace is located in the western part of the Plaza del Obradoiro, which closes on that side, opposite the main facade of the Cathedral of Santiago .

Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is a temple of worship catholic located in the homonymous city in the center of the province of La Coruña , in Galicia. Welcomes that, according to tradition, is the tomb of St. James , which became the temple in one of the main destinations of pilgrimage in Europe during the Middle Ages through the so-called Camino de Santiago , a route in which initiation was the wake of the Milky Way communicating the Iberian peninsula with the rest of the continent. This was decisive for the medieval Spanish kingdoms to participate in the cultural movements of the time, and today remains an important pilgrimage destination.

Colegio de San Jeronimo

The College of St. Jerome is a civic building in Santiago de Compostela, located on the southern side of the square Obradoiro , closing on that side. It is called School of Artists.This hall was originally a foundation of the Archbishop of Compostela Alonso de Fonseca , the third of that name, intending to devote to school for poor students and artists, which was located in the so-called Azabachería Hospice. Depended on the College of Fonseca .

Castillo de San Felipe

The Castle of San Felipe has been one of the major strengths of the Ria de Ferrol . It was built in the sixteenth century . Against this castle in the estuary is also the Castle of La Palma and the Castillo de San Martin , between this and the San Felipe was stretched a chain that prevented the entry of enemy ships, today only ruins can be seen .

Quintana Square

This is the square situated at the other side of the Cathedral. It's divided in two, Quintana dos Mortos, just until the staircase and Quintana dos Vivos, the upper side. In the past it served as cementery and market. There's a legend that tells that if you're at this square alone at midnight, you will be able to see all the deads there buried.

Catholic Kings Hostal

Originally it was a hospital built after the visit of the catholic Kings to Santiago in 1486, to attend the pilgrims. With the years, the Catholic Kings ordered the built of a big hostel with the money they had earned with the conquest of Granada. Its style is Plateresque. At its front, two coats of arms of Castilla can be seen.
