How to Reach

By Air

Nepalgunj Airport is 6 km north from Birendra Chok.The airport was officially named Mahendra Airport after the late King Mahendra.It has flights to Kathmadu and to airports in less developed western districts like Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu and Rukum.

By Train

A branch of Indian Railways reaches the border at Rupaidiha immediately opposite Nepalgunj.It would involve possible train changes at Gonda, Bahraich and Nanpara.It is also possible to take an express train to Lucknow, then a direct bus to Nepalgunj.

By Bus

Long-distance buses to road destinations in Nepal depart from Dhamboji.From Kathmandu there are dozens of daily bus services to Nepalgunj.Few of them have quality services.It's a 10-12 hour ride and an overnight bus journey from Pokhara and Bhairahawa.From Lucknow you can take a bus until Bahraich on the Nepalese border and from there there are plenty of local rickshaws available to corss the border.Once you reach Nepalgunj there are many buses to other parts of Nepal.Remember to perform your journey during day time.

By Car

You can reach here from Lucknow in India by car.The drive will take approximately 6 hrs.Thought the drive is through a somewhat deserted area with a variety of landscape.You cross the river Karnali, which is called Ghagrah in India.The River Ghaghara has some tea-stalls for a stop over.

Bageswory temple

Bageswory temple in Nepalgunj is one of the most important temples for Hindus.It is a sacred temple for Bageswory mata (Goddess Bageswory).Opposite the main temple, is another temple for Lord Shiva.This temple is surounded by an artificial pond and in the center is a statue of Lord Shiva, which possesses a moustache.It is often referred to as Junge Mahadeva and is the only one of its kind.

Banke National Park

is located in the Mid-Western Region, Nepal and was established in May 2010 as Nepal’s tenth national park, covering an area of 550 km2 with most parts falling on the Churia range.The park is surrounded by a buffer zone of 344 km2 in the districts of Banke, Salyan and Dang.Together with the neighboring Bardia National Park, the coherent protected area of 1,518 km2 represents the Tiger Conservation Unit (TCU) Bardia-Banke, which is now the biggest tiger conservation area in all of Asia.

Bardiya National Park

is a protected area in Nepal that was established in 1988 as Royal Bardia National Park.Covering an area of 968 km2 it is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in Nepal's Terai, adjoining the eastern bank of the Karnali River in the Bardiya District.The northern limits of the protected area are demarcated by the crest of the Siwalik Hills.The Nepalgunj-Surkhet highway partly forms the southern boundary, but seriously disrupts the protected area.Natural boundaries to human settlements are formed in the west by the Geruwa, a branch of the Karnali River and in the southeast by the Babai River.

Upper Dolpo & Shey Gompa Trek

Upper Dolpo region is situated in the northwestern Nepal, a few kms away from Nepalgunj.It is the upper area of the Tarap Khola and Shey Phokundo lake.The route passes through dry land of the valley ,snow-capped peaks and the desolate plateau.Trekking into the Jumla region is one of the most astonishing and charming treks.Attraction sof this region are the landscapes, flowers, Rara lake, flora and fauna, Jumli culture and villages.
