How to Reach

By Air

Kochi/ Cochin Airport serves as the nearest airport to Munnar. One hundred and twenty one km from Munnar, the Cochin Airport (121 km) at Nedumbassery is a four hour scenic drive to Munnar. Unquestionably, Cochin is connected with 118 flights through out India. In case you do not have already-appointed pick ups, there are plenty of taxis and transport means to drive off to the destination.

By Train

Ernakulam Rail Stations (130 km) and Aluva Railway Station (18 km) are two stations that connect Munnar arterially with other cities. One of the major stations in Kerala, Ernakulam Railway Station is primarily linked with all major stations in North such as: Jammu, Ludiana, Jhansi, Agra and so on. It takes 3 ½ hr from Munnar to reach Ernakulam Railway Station and 1 hr for Aluva Railway Station.

Tourists can take bus to Munnar from Central Bus Station which is situated quiet close to the Railway Station. Munnar also falls close to other rail heads and can be very much accessed through Theni (60 km), Changanassery (114 km) and Madurai (160 km).

By Road

Road journey when taken on the rolling slopes and amidst tea-wafted breeze is ever-enchanting in Munnar. Located in the south Kerala Munnar is tied in with NH 49, which passes straight through the city connecting it with Devikulam, Neriamangalam, Kotamangalam, Muvatapuzzha, Theni and Madurai. One hundred thirty five (135) km toward NE of Kochi, the scenic destination of Munnar is stringed in with other Kerala districts as well as neighbouring states through NH49 (Thripunithura, Vadayambadi, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam, Neriyamangalam, Adimali and Pallivasal) and SH17, providing vital link to the state. A network of non-bumpy motorable roads intersects the swirling road wind in Munnar and joins it with other places. Plenitude of jeeps, taxis, KSRTC buses, auto rickshaws so on and so forth connect it with other state parts.

Devikulam

It is an idyllic hill station and the most sought-after among the tourist attractions of Munnar featuring sprawling lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cold mountain air. You will also find Sita Devi Lake with its mineral rich water and charming ambiance and is an ideal picnic spot. This place is ideal for trout fishing.

Mattupett

It is located at a height of 1700 meters and famous for its highly specialized dairy farm. You can visit the cattle shed farms at this place on your tour to Munnar. Besides, the Mattupetty Lake and dam is a short distance from the farm and is a beautiful picnic spot. You can also get boating facilities on the Mattupetty Dam that would simply be exciting.

Eravikulam National Park

This flourishing national park is home to the Nilgiri Tahr and also to the Anamudi Peak which is located in the Southern region of the park.

It was initially established to protect the Nilgiri tahr (Nilgiri Ibex) and was recognized as a national park in the year 1978. It is spread over an area of 97 sq kms and is one of the most sought-after among the tourist attractions of Munnar. This park is remarkably beautiful and is a gem to the crown of Munnar.

Top Station

Top Station is 41 km from Munnar, and is appropriately named. This is the main abode to the highest tea plantations of India. It takes one hour to reach Top Station from Munnar.

It is located on the borders of both the states, Kerala as well as Tamilnadu and dictates an absolute panoramic view. Tourists keep visiting top station as it is in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu and Idukki district of Kerala. It is at an altitude of 1700 meters.

This area is famous for exceptional flowers such as Neelakurinji flowers. Buses ply frequently between Munnar and Top Station.
