Monteria is home to a regional airport, Los Garzones Airport, which provides service to capital cities of neighboring provinces and to the nations capital, Bogota, through the country's main air carrier Avianca.

The city is served by a fishing port, but the waters of the Sinu river do not run deep enough and are not wide enough to serve as a commercial channel. High quality sand is brought up from the bottom of the river in buckets placed by divers, for use in the making of cinderblocks for local and regional construction projects.

Monteria lies on a major highway connecting Medellin to Sincelejo and extending to Cartagena and Barranquilla. It has an effective public transportation system and arterial connections to the rest of the country.
By Bus
Buses are called busetas.The safest ones are yellow, from the company MetroBus.It costs $1400.00 COP for a ride but with an ElTike card, a ride is $1160.00 COP.ElTike cards can be purchased at the MetroBus terminal for $5000.00 COP and the minimum recharge is for $14,000.00COP.

Simon Bolivar Park
is a greenspace and entertainment and sports complex located in the middle of the city of Bogota, Colombia.The park is named after the Latin American Liberator Simon Bolivar.The park is located in the locality of Teusaquillo and is managed by the District Institute of Recreation and Sport (Instituto Distrital de Recreacion y Deporte - IDRD) . The park is one of the most popular urban parks in the city of Bogota.The park features a lake in which people can rent paddle boats and a large space for concerts and events capable of holding 140.000 people.
Ronda del Sinu
Along the East Bank of the River Sinu, the Ronda del Sinu is a recreational park with restaurants, a cycle road, an open-air theatre, etc. Monkeys and iguanas run freely in the park, and it is considered to be the only tourist attraction in Montera.
Castillo de San Felipe
a fortress designed by the Dutch engineer Richard Carr and built in 1657 by the Spanish for protection against pirates while shipping gold out to Europe.Opening hours 8am-6pm, entrance fee COP$ 15,000.Close to the San Felipe fortress is the 150m high La Popa hill, which offers great views over Cartagena and the harbour area.The 17th century Santa Cruz monastery is here, which has a beautifully restored courtyard and a fine image of the Virgin of La Candelaria.Entrance to La Popa is COP$8,000 for adults and a little less for children.Note that taking a taxi up and down the hill will cost you a shocking COP$50,000.Negotiate this with the driver before going.It is advised that you do not walk up as it can be dangerous.
