The group consists of five-expressionist figurative sculptures carved in stone, measuring about two meters in height, erect, and a meter, the sitting. The main figure represents Rodrigo Acevedo Perez, a sailor who was born in Lepe is and who accompanied Columbus on his voyage of 1492. 13 is represented on the high crow's nest of the Santa Maria, when he shouted "Land ho" on 12 October, to see fire on a Caribbean island. The other characters represent three sailors performing different tasks and a woman pulling the bag. The sculptures have been carved in the language of expressive figuration, mixed with geometric constructivism, and it would be rather a construction expression.
