How to Reach

By train

Kampen reached by train from Zwolle . The station is on the right bank. End of 2012, a new station to come Kampen South, located at the Hanze, even to lay railway line between Lelystad and Zwolle.

By bus

Major bus lines are lines 141 (Zwolle - Emmeloord - Urk ) and line 143 (Kampen - Dronten - Lelystad ). The Hansa Liner 330 Zwolle - Lelystad does not pass through the station, but it stops at the City Carpool N50

By car

Kampen situated on the N50. The part between Kampen and Emmeloord (A6) is partly different level, partly ground out. For this road to the west of a new bridge built Kampen, called Island Bridge. In the center and east of Kampen are two bridges: the bridge over the Molenbrug. The roads to Genemuiden and Dronten are important.

Outside Church

Outside the Church (Church of Our Lady) in Kampen was the construction of Kampen and the second parish church was dedicated to Mary .The name "Outside Church" in the 14th century taken from the site of the church, the new city to the outside corner, which was originally outside the city walls. Started in 1369 by architect Rutger Ceulen to the construction of the St Mary's Church. The first sanctuary was built. Initially intended as a cruciform church , but later changed into a church hall . In this form, with three halls is one of the few in the Netherlands. The irregular plan depends on a number of renovations, the building underwent in the 15th century.
Finally the tower was founded in 1453.

Stedelijk Museum

The Stedelijk Museum Kampen is a museum located in the Old Town Hall of Kampen . Since a fire destroyed the Old Town Hall in 1543 almost destroyed, the building is characterized by a combination of two architectural styles: the Lower Rhine Gothic and Renaissance .The permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum, Kampen has four main themes: Water, Religion, Judiciary and the House of Orange . There are also five to six temporary exhibitions a year, on contemporary art.

New Tower

The New Tower is at the Old Street in Kampen . This play tower was built between 1649-1664, designed by Philips Vingboons . The building had many setbacks, the work in the period 1655-1660 even completely halted.In the tower is a carillon composed in 1657 by François Hemony . Twenty-nine bells were cast by him, the other clocks include by Geert van Wou . Today there are 47 bells hung in the tower, which is regularly reviewed by the carillonneur be played.

Bovenkerk

The Upper Church in Kampen is a large, Gothic basilica and also the most striking element on the skyline of Kampen. The interior of the church is an early-Renaissance choir screen, a stone pulpit and a monumental organ. The church has a tower and a ship with two aisles , a closed choir with ambulatory and radiating chapels . The church has 1,250 seats.

Koornmarkt Port

Koornmarkt Gate is a gate in the wall of the Dutch town of Kampen and the oldest. The back of the gate adjacent to the Koornmarkt , the front of the IJssel, where it is part of the famous IJsselmeer Kamper front . Previously, the gate white plastered but is now restored to its original state.

Friar Gate

The Friar Gate is one of the three Kamper city gates that remain. The Friar Gate is situated on the park side at the end of the Broederstraat. On this side was not a brick wall but an earthen rampart to defend the city. The current gate in 1465 moved to its present location. The original gate was at the Camp Ensenada moat the Burgel .

Cell Gate Brothers

The Brothers Cell Gate is one of the three Kamper city gates that remain. The Brothers Cell Gate is situated on the park side at the end of the Cellebroedersweg. On this side was not a brick wall but an earthen rampart to defend the city.It has two large towers with a pointed, many ornaments and the city arms.The current gate in 1465 moved to its present location. The original gate was at the Camp Ensenada moat the Burgel . The gate is named after a nearby convent of the Brothers Cell. Around 1616 the port received its present form. Design in a Mannerist style of architect Thomas Berentsz .

City Hall Kampen

The Hall of Kampen in the Old Town Hall 133 Old Street in the Dutch town of Kampen .It's a late-Gothic town hall with an ornate facade with pinnacles and turrets with pointed two guerite. It has a tower with a square base ships. Built in the mid 14th century. After a fire in 1543, there are Renaissance elements added.The ship has a room in Renaissance style with oak woodwork and master Vrerick banks. There is a carved sandstone fireplace by Colijn de Nole. Right of the chimney is schepengestoelte. In the back are Charity and Justice. Above is a picture of the Last Judgement by Ernst Maeler. Left of the chimney is a closet from 1647 for the silver.
