Mangungu Mission House, Motukiore Road (drive from Horeke towards Taheke. At the end of the concrete bridge turn left and drive along the shore for about 3 km), Open during tourism season and every Saturday and Sunday. Mangungu Mission House is a Wesleyan mission built during 1838-39. It overlooks the Hokianga Harbour. At this location, on 12 February 1840, the largest signing of the Treaty of Waitangi took place. To local Maori, this place has far more importance than the Treaty Site at Waitangi where the English representatives signed the document. The mission station is open to visitors and displays the old table on which the treaty was signed with a copy of the treaty on it. There are also lots of historic photos and objects on display. The outside of the house has been renovated in 2007 thanks to a private sponsor from Auckland.

Wairere Boulders (Nature Park), 70 McDonnell Rd (located about 4km south of Horeke), One of New Zealand's prime geological features and tourism attraction which can be visited all year round. Huge basalt boulders—up to 30m in height—created a 1.6 km long and up to 350 m wide boulder area which is world unique. A narrow footpath leads over wooden bridges and stairs up to a platform which enables a view over the valley. The short visit takes about 40 to 60 minutes, the easy walk to the platform is about 2 hours return.
