St. Amands Church

The St. Amands Church is the oldest parish church in Geel.It is located near the Markt in the center of the city.It is a late Gothic church built from 1489 - 1532.The predecessor burned down in 1489 off.This was built in Brabant white sandstone.The rebuilding of the church took place from 1490 instead of brick.From the sandstone edifice remained on some parts.The tower has a base of about 1400, is also part of 1489 and was in the middle of the 16th century increased to 59 meters.In 1567, most of the artworks in the church by the iconoclastic destruction.Only images of the Saints Dympna and Gerebernus were spared, as were two paintings, including an Adoration of the Magi.In the south wall are stained glass windows of January Huet to see.

Reggae Geel Festival
