By plane

Altet Airport is located 13 km from the town of Elche, has weekly flights to 50 destinations.

By train

Elche is located at an intermediate point of the line "near" linking Alicante and Murcia , which has a high frequency of travel for easy connection to any part of the Spanish geography. The railway, which crosses the city through an underground route has two passenger stations in the town and a way station in the hamlet of Torrellano. The project for building the future Madrid-Alicante, also contemplates the existence of a stop in Elche, thus reinforcing communication with the city.

By boat

Elche, separated from the coast just 13 miles, is a city full Mediterranean. The port of Alicante  , located just 20 kilometers, has modern facilities that facilitate communication by sea of goods and passengers.

By car

Elche is connected with the rest of Europe and the Mediterranean coast on Highway A-7 (European itinerary E -15). Another key way for long distance travel is the A-31 of the basic state network, which connects the province of Alicante with the center of the peninsula. In addition, a road network that complements the above such as the N - 340, which runs from Alicante , Elche and Murcia by Orihuela, on the other hand the coastal N-332, which joins the other Elche coast tourist areas. Recently it also launched the first section of the freeway ring-20 Elche.

Palacio de Altamira

Altamira Palace or Palace of the Signoria is situated on the river Vinalopo in the center of the city of Elche ( Spain ).The castle Alcazar Altamira Palace of the Signoria, was built in the late fifteenth century Castilian nobleman by Gutierrez de Cardenas , the first lord of the city, having returned to the Crown with the Catholic Monarchs , making it his residence. However, it was probably built on an earlier work of the twelfth century or XIII , which form part of the defenses of the Almohad walled town. It belonged to the Counts of Altamira .

Tower of Calahorra

Tower of Calahorra is a stronghold of Islamic origin conceived as a watchtower in its location as part of the defensive wall of Elche Andalus .
The building of the tower Almohad dating from the late twelfth century or the beginning of XIII . The quadrangular tower defended the entrance from the road from Alicante important to Vila Murada. In its realization walls were used masonry plastered with stones at the base and in the corners.
The fort housed the lodge Elche number 149 and today its rooms can be seen in cool roofs and even on the floor symbols Masonic .
Additions to the battlements and windows are of Neoarabic nineteenth century , with overhead lighting.

Minor Basilica of Santa Maria de Elche

The Minor Basilica of Santa Maria or Archpriest Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, is located the place of the Eucharistic Congress in the city of Elche (Comunidad Valenciana , Spain) and style built in Baroque between 1672 and 1784 and involved several architects from which was the Castellon Jaime Bort and Melia , author of the Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Murcia .
Work began in 1672 under the direction of Francis Green , succeeded Pedro Quintana and Ferran Fouquet . It is a good example of Spanish baroque.
This building features architectural styles from the baroque Italianate the main gate, the rococo of the other covers and the ambulatory, the neo-classical interior, to the medieval reminiscences.

Elche Palm Grove

The Palm Grove of Elche (Palm d'Elx in Valencian ), located in Elche, is an expanse of palm trees within the urban area of the city. It is the largest palm grove in Europe , and worldwide only a few palm trees than Arabs. The main type of palm tree found is called Phoenix dactylifera was taken there by the Moors when they occupied the Iberian peninsula . The palm or palm is priced very well in the Spanish market and also exports secret, it's very important date palm industry and the construction of palms, their leaves are taken to a special bleaching process by depriving them of light.
La Palmera Imperial in the Garden of Healing .Map of palm groves declared a World Heritage Site .The Palm Grove of Elche has been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco , the November 30th of 2000 .

Garden of Healing

The Garden's Cure (in Valencian, Hort del Cura) is a botanical garden located in the city of Elche in Alicante . The garden has about 13,000 m palm densely populated. In it live some 1000 palm trees, mostly date palms. In addition to palm trees, gardens grow Mediterranean plants such as pomegranates , Azofaifo , orange , fig and lemon trees , which have been added over time of subtropical plants and a collection of cacti. The Garden (in Elche is known as a garden plot of land with palm trees) is named after the chaplain José Castaño Sanchez , who owned it until 1918 . It is the most important garden set called Elche palm grove , declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
