Vologda State Technical University

the largest technical university city of Vologda and the Vologda region.History of the University dates back to 1966 when, in Vologda was opened general technical faculty of the North-West Correspondence Polytechnic Institute (SZPI). At the faculty was just an evening and extramural studies. In 1967 the department was reorganized in the Vologda branch SZPI. The branch there were only 2 faculties: - Faculty full-time study - Faculty of evening and distance learning. "In 1975 at the suggestion of the Vologda Oblast Executive Committee of Vologda branch SZPI converted to Vologda Polytechnic Institute (VPI). In 1986 the Institute opened a sanatorium "Polytechnic."In 1999, VPI received the highest accreditation status and became a university.Since then he has been called Vologda State Technical University (Vogt).
