By road

Public transport

There enabled halts at the crossing of Cartaya and Avenida El Rompido with links to Ayamonte, Huelva, Seville. The fortress Castillo Zuniga

The strength of El Castillo Zuniga is a defensive structure in the town of Cartaya, Huelva Province, Spain. In the fifteenth century the lands of the village began to form part of the dominions of the House Zuniga and the men were met by an unsafe area and frequently attacked by pirates Berbers and Normans. Between 1417 and 1420 began the construction of the fortress, ideal refuge for the population and eventually consolidate the existing settlement. Until the Marquis of Gibraleon Pedro de Zuniga and Manrique de Lara, did not win a lawsuit Alfonso de Guzman, lord of Ayamonte, Lepe, for which he could establish a boat passing through the Stones River and found the people with him in order to defend the step, there was some normalcy in the area.

Convent of the Holy Trinity

Building is the largest of the town, the only one built of stone and one of the few noble character of the same, having its stylistic features influenced the local architecture from the nineteenth century, starring in and conditioning for both the urban area of Cartaya.

Ermita de Nuestra Senora de Consolacion

Ermita de Nuestra Senora de Consolacion, situada en las afueras y buen ejemplo del barroco andaluz con aportaciones mudejares. Es una edificacion de tres naves separadas por arcos de tres vanos de medio punto.Construida por un indiano en el siglo XVI sufrio importantes destrozos en el terremoto de 1775. Tras su reparacion se anadieron nuevas dependencias en etapas sucesivas, la ultima de ellas en 1943.

Festivities in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary

The religious fair is held in honor of the patron saint, whose image, 48 sculptor Leon Ortega [1939], is venerated in the parish church of San Pedro. The first Sunday of October is the traditional mass and procession back. In the vicinity of Fair Pavilion is the trade fair, with more than one hundred houses, streets and residential community with services in all areas. Everything is laid out around a central square where there is the scenario which brings together performances both folk and contemporary music.

Pilgrimage of San Isidro

Held in the natural setting that takes the name of the Hermitage of San Isidro, two miles from the village towards the Rompido. The date of celebration varies and is normally the last weekend of May. Cartaya has one of the most important equine Huelva province, so that the horse is the undisputed star of this pilgrimage. Two weeks before the search takes place of the saint to his hermitage on the Prairie and moved to town. During these days the image remains in the parish of St. Peter celebrated Mass in his honor. The Thursday before the pilgrimage takes place an offering of flowers in honor of San Isidro. On Friday takes place the transfer of the saint and the Simpecado (which remains in the town throughout the year) to the prairie. The procession passes in that meadow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, he moved again to the people Simpecado leaving the saint at his hermitage until next year.

The Feast of Rompido

Takes place the last weekend of July and have become one of the most traditional and popular events of the summer on the coast of Huelva. For the main course we celebrate the procession of the Virgen del Carmen, which the sailors strolling along the Rio Piedras in their boats to give an offering of flowers in the waters that provide their livelihood.
