There is a Beveren station and a station Melsele on line 59 (Antwerp- Ghent).Previously there was a station Haasdonk, but that is now closed.In the long right wing of the building (9 bays) is currently also a signal box.As part of the signal box concentration plan, the activities of this signal box however be taken over by Antwerp-Berchem.It is planned to be around december 2011.

Our Lady Melsele Church

The Our Lady is the Church of the Belgian village Melsele.She was first mentioned in 1055.The current building, largely Gothic, was the 13th to the 17th century.In 1936 were all three choirs of the church as a protected monument in 1982, the whole church protected.In 1995 were original ceiling paintings from the 15th century discovered in the choir.In 2001 the restoration of Our Lady was nominated for the Flemish Memorial Prize.Each year, organ concerts on the 18th century organ, which was last restored in 1969.This organ is managed by the Organ Committee Melsele (vzw).The church is a protected monument.

Fort Haasdonk

Fort Haasdonk is part of the forts around Antwerp (called Theorem of Antwerp).The fort was built for the First World War but was never used hence this fort is well preserved.The fort has Haasdonk like the other forts merged caponnieres a trapezoid shaped building surrounded by a 50 meter wide moat.The surface was approximately 22 hectares.The fort is a fort called second order (as Broechem, Breendonk, Ertbrand, Liezele) with a slightly lighter armor and firepower than the first order forts (such Oelegem and Koninkshooikt).The fort is built of reinforced concrete and had to withstand 21 cm caliber.Shortly before the First World War the Germans were developed guns which the unreinforced insufficient resisted.

Cortewalle Castle

is a Flemish water castle to Beveren in Belgium who for years was occupied by the family Brouchoven the Bergeyck.The castle dates from the 15th century and is one of the oldest in the Waasland.It is built of white sandstone, in the style of the Flemish Renaissance.For centuries, the family property of the families Triest, Goubau and Brouchoven the Bergeyck.The family Brouchoven the Bergeyck sold it to the municipality Beveren.In the 19th century it was maintained by the family and their relatives.Thus lived Count Charles Moretus-Plantin, Mayor of Stabroek in the castle with his wife Countess Emilie de Brouchoven the Bergeyck.The castle is protected since 1971 as a monument and by appointment.The park is public.The hounds of the Count lived in a beautifully built dog house that made the news when it was restored for $ 10,000.

Fort Liefkenshoek

The fort is a Liefkenshoek redoubt and fort near the former hamlet Liefkenshoek in the Belgian village of Kallo, a borough of East Flanders Beveren.It was a military fortress on the left bank of the Scheldt to Antwerp.It is in the period 1585-1786 an advanced post of the Republic have been.Now the fort is owned by the municipality of Beveren and since 1985 a protected monument.From 1964 to 1973 served as the resort of the Belgian Army for professional soldiers and their families.After the fort was closed until June 1980 purchased by the municipality of Beveren.

Kieldrechtse Creek

is a valuable and recognized natural landscape is conveniently located in the village center of Kieldrecht and rural Meerdonk.It is managed by Natuurpunt Waasland North.They bought it in May 2003.Before, it was privately owned.It was on 6 March 2006 recognized as a nature reserve.The Great Geule and typical boathouse are the most photographed items in Kieldrecht.The Great Geule is part of the Saleghem Creek area.Natuurpunt and CVN regularly organize activities such as guided nature walks and bird watching.

Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival is an event organized annually by the Committee and Strawberry taking place in the Belgian Melsele.Strawberry Festivals of 2007 were organized from May 16 to May 21.On this 45th Strawberry Festival took the 16th Aardbeirun and 5th place Strawberry Quiz.Among others, Will Tura was singing in honor of his fifty-year career.Other celebrities who attended: Marijn Devalck, Paul Michiels, the German schlager singer Dennie Christian.In 1954 found the Strawberry Festival originated when the priest Ivens strawberry cultivation in Melsele wanted to propagate.He did this with an exhibition of strawberries and a procession which ended with an offering of strawberries on Gaverland each breeder box strawberries sacrificed.The procession took place however only 3 times by the high costs.
