How to Reach

By air

As for the aerial, the closest airports are:The Gibraltar Airport to 21.6 km, has flights to London and Manchester.The Jerez airport, 109 km, to travel to European destinations such as Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, London or Brussels and national as Madrid, Palma de Mallorca or Barcelona in different companies.The airport of Malaga-Costa del Sol, 131 km, has a more varied destinations in North America, Africa and the Middle East and varied European destinations ( France, Bulgaria, Denmark ) and national.

By train

The Algeciras train station is located 300 metres west of the port entrance. Just walk outside the station and straight down Calle Cervantes (the street in front of you) until you reach the Avenida de la Marina. You will see signs from here to the port. From Algeciras there are daily train connections to Madrid. Three a day on the picturesque route to Ronda and Granada.

By boat

The ferry terminal is the heart of Algeciras and is well-signed from most roads in the city. Services from the following destinations arrive at the port:Ceuta - daily services running about every hour from 8 am - 10:15 pm. Fast ferries (40 minutes, €18) and normal ferries (90 minutes, €11) are available.Tangier - daily services running about every 90 minutes from 7 am - 10:00 pm. Fast ferries (40 minutes+ 20 minute free bus, €37) and normal ferries (2.5 hours, about €29) are available.

By road

Algeciras has a good network of road communications in their outputs to Seville and Malaga. In Algeciras begins the Mediterranean motorway (A-7), which serves as a variant of the city and connects it to the neighboring towns of the Costa del Sol and all the Spanish east coast to Barcelona. It communicates with Cadiz by the N-340 ( road ) while the construction is completed motorway Costa de la Luz (A-48). In the nearby town of Los Barrios begins the A-381, highway linking the Bay of Algeciras to Jerez, and Sevilla through the AP-4.

By bus

The first lines of buses started operating in the city in 1910 replacing the company measures being undertaken by the route Madrid-Cadiz Algeciras in twelve hours. Capilla del Cristo de la Alameda

The Chapel of the Holy of Alameda, a former chapel converted into a museum in the town of Andalusia to Algeciras, was built in 1776 on the initiative of the priest Domingo Perez and enjoyed great devotion to the people of the sea until the mid-nineteenth century.The Chapel is a single room and a small sacristy, highlights the Baroque facade with belfry. Church of Our Lady of La Palma

The Church of Our Lady of Palma de Algeciras is located in the Plaza Alta. Chapel of Our Lady of Europe

The Chapel of Our Lady of Europe in Algeciras, commonly known as the little chapel in Europe, is located in the Plaza Alta. The present building dates from 1769 because the original structure, built in 1690, was greatly affected by the earthquake of 1755. In 1690 a chapel was erected on the site now occupied by the chapel. Was dedicated to St. Bernard, patron of Gibraltar and its field and was in the farmhouse of the Galvez, one of the most prosperous families of Gibraltar. The erection of the chapel had received authorization from the Bishop of Cadiz Barcia Martin Zambrano.

Algeciras Aqueduct

The Aqueduct of Algeciras is one of the most important buildings which were in the city during its first two centuries. Archaeological Park of Algeciras Merinides Walls

The Archaeological Park of the walls merinies of Algeciras is located at Avenida Blas Infante, bordered to the north of Villa Nueva and displays the archaeological remains left uncovered in the excavations in the year 1997. It covers some 6,000 square meters and is complemented with an interpretation center located in a nearby building.

Mosque of Algeciras

The remains of the Great Mosque of Algeciras are located in the Old Village, south of the city, on the grounds of the Hotel Reina Cristina. Although there is controversy over whether it is the mosque of the Old Village or the other of those in the city of Al-Hadra Al-Yazirat everything seems to indicate that the building is built in the late eighth century on the remains of a Byzantine church or perhaps a pagan temple in the city of Traducta Iulia.

Maria Cristina Park

The Parque Maria Cristina de Algeciras, called Paseo Cristina is one of the most popular places in town.Its area is 20,683 meters square, is located between Calle Ramon y Cajal, Captain Ontanon, Avenida Blas Infante and Avenue of the Armed Forces is registered in the Catalogue of the Andalusian Historical Heritage as a Cultural Garden in the province. The Paseo Cristina held various important events in the life of the city as the crowning of the queen of Feria, the Carnival, various social associations meetings, concerts and medieval markets.

Centennial Park

Centennial Park Algeciras is located at the tip of St. Garcia, was built in 2007 through collaboration between the Port Authority of Algeciras Bay and City Hall to mark the hundredth anniversary of the Algeciras Conference and the creation of the Board of Harbor Works.

The Museum of Sacred Art

The Museum of Sacred Art is located in the Chapel of Alameda after the restoration of it in 1999. The museum is divided into four rooms: Jewellery, Ceramics, Painting and the latter dedicated to the Holy Week in the city.
