Wichita is located at the junction of Interstates 135 & 35 (Kansas Turnpike)
- Approximately three hour drive from Kansas City or Oklahoma City.
By plane
Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, five miles west of the city's center, serves nine carriers providing service to 11 cities across the country, most of which are major hubs with connecting service to points around the world.

- Greyhound, Buses stop at a terminal in downtown Wichita.
By train
- Amtrak, doesn't serve the city directly, but its Southwest Chief service that runs between Chicago and Los Angeles stops daily in Newton, a town 25 miles north of the city's center, around 3 in the morning. From Newton, you'll need to rent a car or hire a taxi to get to Wichita, and arrangements are best made in advance for either, particularly given the hour of arrival.
Sedgwick County Zoo
Open every day 8:30AM-5PM summer, 10AM-5PM winter. The largest zoo in Kansas and one of the largest in the United States. The zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals of nearly 500 different species
Old Cowtown Museum
Historic 17 acre open air living history museum with 35 exhibit areas depicting life in Wichita and Sedgwick County during the period 1865 to 1880. There are historic buildings complete with period furnishings, art objects, clothing, industrial machinery, craft tools, and farm equipment. There is also a living collection of livestock including longhorn cattle, horses, and Dominique chickens.

Mid-America All Indian Center
Native Wichita artist Blackbear Bosin's famous 44-foot sculpture "Keeper of the Plains" stands at the confluence of the Big and Little Arkansas Rivers on land where the Wichita tribe camped a hundred years ago.
The Mid-America All Indian Center is dedicated to the preservation of Native American heritage, culture and traditions. It is a frequent site for Indaian pow-wows.
Visit the Indian Center Museum and see exhibitions of artwork and artifacts of Native Amricans. Shop for Native American art, jewelry, breadwork, books, pottery and souvenirs in the Museum Gift Shop.

Museum Of World Treasures
Located at the corner of 1st. & Mosley in a remodeled warehouse, the Museum Of World Treasures houses a large and intriguing attraction with Egyptian mummies and sarcophagi, Roman and Greek treasures, the finest American Presidents collection in the world, a great Sports Museum, the only Royal Crown Jewels in mainland America, ten authentic dinosaur fossils, and much much more.
Botanica, The Wichita Gardens
Formal gardens, wildflowers, waterfalls and woodland walks await you just west of downtown in Sim Park. Plants and flowers, both native and new to the area, thrive at Botanica.
