Ksiaz Castle

is a castle in Silesia, Poland near the town of Walbrzych.It was built in 1288-1292 under Bolko I the Strict.It lies within a protected area called Ksiaz Landscape Park.The original fortification was destroyed in the year 1263 by Ottokar II of Bohemia.Bolko I, Duke of Swidnica and Jawor built a new castle between 1288 and 1292.Duke Bolko II of Swidnica died in 1368 without having children with his wife Agnes von Habsburg.After her death in the year 1392 King Wenceslaus IV of Bohemia obtained the castle.In 1401 Janko z Chociemic obtained the castle.The Bohemian Hussites occupied the castle between 1428-1429.In the year 1464 Birka z Nasiedla obtained the castle from the Bohemian crown.He sold it to Hans von Schellendorf. This second castle was destroyed in 1482 by Georg von Stein.In the year 1509 Konrad I von Hoberg (from 1714: Hochberg) obtained the castle hill.The Hochberg family owned the castle until 1941.It was a part of the Project Riese until 1945.The castle was occupied by the Red army in 1945.Most artifacts were lost or destroyed.

Lubiechowska Palm House

a palm house with an area of about 1900 m2, situated in Walbrzych estate Lubiechow.This is one of the oldest facilities of its kind in Poland, built in the years 1911-1913 with the command of Henry XV von Pless.The Palm House, which operates at a cafe and shop with plants, is available for visitors.It gathered about 80 species of plants from around the world and the additional interest is the fact that the palm house walls from the inside cover of the Mount Etna volcanic tuff.The dome of the building rose to a height of 15 m.The palm house was located a Japanese garden, rosarium, fruit and vegetable garden and an area for growing plants.Upon completion of construction brought about 80 species of exotic plants.In 1963, modernized the building, heating and windows are listed.In 1978, a hiking trail was extended to 500 m. George Szaniawski Drama Theatre

Drama Theatre Jerzy Szaniawski in Walbrzych was created as a municipal theater in 1957 year.Nucleus of today's theater was founded in 1947 the theater hall.Aleksander Fredro, who performed for more then a small Polish population (around 7000).Also collaborated with the then existing theater Jelenia Gora.But Walbrzych scene was not independent and had no permanent place performances.Reasons for this were many but most important was the lack of free building.Scene Walbrzych was officially opened until 1956, when I created the scene here Dolnoslaskich affiliate of the State Theatre in Jelenia Gora.Municipal National Council in 1960 passed a resolution requiring the city to institute proceedings Walbrzych for the appointment of dramatic theater.

Walbrzych Puppet and Actor Theatre

Walbrzych Art Gallery

Walbrzych Art Gallery Art Exhibitions Bureau "Ksiaz Castle" was created as an independent unit 1 January 1976 by Governor Walbrzych and from 1 January 1996 is organized by the Municipality of Walbrzych.The aim of the gallery is to promote contemporary art through the presentation of interesting and original creative attitudes of artists from home and abroad, and creators of their environment.Gallery carries a dozen exhibitions annually in its own premises and prepares and presents exhibitions in foreign institutions.The most interesting realization of the exhibition included posters of Jan Sawka of the U.S. woodcuts HAP Grirshabera, Polish artistic personalities such as John Szancenbach, Janina Kraupe, Adam Myjak, Wladyslaw Hasior, Stanislaw Mikulski, Tom Setowski.
