By Air

The nearest airport to Verviers is Brussels Airport is your most likely point of entry into Belgium.To reach Verviers, take the train to Louvain/Leuven, or Brussels-Nord and change for Verviers.

By Train

Liege-Guillemins is the main station, located on the southwest part of the city.Thalysand ICE high-speed trains serve Brussels, Paris, Aachen, Cologne and Frankfurt.Beware that unlike most train stations in Belgium, Liege-Guillemins is not a walking distance away from the city centre.You can take a bus which cost €1.40 one way or taxi which cost around 8-10 euros.The cheapest alternative being changing to another train that's heading to the station called "Liege-Palais".The fare of this trip is included in your ticket to Liege-Guillemins.The trip takes around 6 mins.

By Tram Bus

Verviers have from 1884 until 1969 driven trams.The first streetcar company, the TV (Societe des Tramways Vervietois) which later merged with Stiv (Societe des Transports de l Agglomeration intercommunaux Vervietoise).The nearby railway have two electrical lines operated from Verviers.To a spa and the other to Eupen.The last city trams were in 1969 removed.

Verviers Eclectic Festival

is a free music festival held annually by the city of Verviers the last weekend of August.It was in its 8th edition in 2010 when the festival gathered 60 000 people.At its 7th edition, the festival attracted over 70,000 people.Of 6 different scenes, concerts are given, involving all kinds of music (jazz, rock, pop, French chansons) all complemented by an artisan village, local produce.Each year a great artist closes the festival.

International Singing Competition of Verviers

Situated in the beautiful Walloon city of Vervier the Competition welcomes young vocalists to display their professional virtuosity with an extensive operatic repertoire.During the semi-finals, the contestants will be provided costumes, wigs, sets and accessories from l’Opera royal de Wallonie, which allow them to showcase their original theatrical skills on stage. In the final round, Orchestra of the Opera will accompany the competitors.Past winners include Nicolas Zielinski, Joni Henson, and Ofelia Sala Piqueras.

The Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics

The Museum of Archaeology and Folklore

A lovely museum in a Louis 15 th style patrician house.This museum has been arranged as a lived-in residence, thanks to the collections of furniture grouped in a consistent way.Each room has a particular style, displaying furniture, paintings, chandeliers, porcelain, etc.prehistoric and Roman archaeological finds discovered in the regions of Verviers and Theux.mementos from the town’s historical past, especially the Napoleonic era.

Ensival Historical Museum

The Ensival Historical Museum is a private museum that is open to everyone, so that we never forget the suffering and the lives lost for our liberty.Around fifty models are displayed there.They represent the occupation and the liberation of the region of Grand Verviers.The museum is arranged on two floors and the collection can be seen in five rooms. Numerous photos and documents are on display.The museum houses the Centre Archeologique Militaire (CAM - Military Archaeological Centre), which recently found the pilot of an FW190 shot down in 1944 and buried in April 2003 in Lommel.The photos of the searches carried out by the CAM are available in the museum.The CAM is available to everyone for any searches in the region.

House of Water

was inaugurated in October 2004.This new attraction is an ideal complement to the Wool and Fashion Tourist Centre just round the corner in the Rue de la Chapelle.The centre has used the latest technologies in sound, lighting and IT to offer an educational view on the importance of water in the history of Verviers.Among other things the visit features slide shows with sound about the Vesdre and the wool trade crossing a river of light SWDE interactive terminals the Gileppe dam, a steam engine, a machine that produces electricity using water a slide show with sound made using a camera placed on a mini-helicopter flying just above the Vesdre transforming visitors into birds with a slight breeze to add to the atmosphere.
