By Roads

Motorway E6 / E20 runs along the Swedish west coast, passing just east of Varberg. The highway connects the city of Gothenburg in the north and Malmo in the south. Highway 41 begins in Varberg and go north-east towards Mark and Boras . Secondary Road 153 going east from Varberg to Värnamo by including Ullared and Smalandsstenar .

By Railways

Two railway lines passing Varberg station : West Coast Line West Coast at about the same extent as E6/E20, and Whisper Valley Line in Viskans valley towards Boras, parallel to Highway 41st Previously, there was also Varberg-Ätran Train to Ullared and Ätran in current Falkenberg Municipality . This railway was opened in 1911 and was closed to traffic 1961st.A railway tunnel under the Varberg is scheduled to commence by 2018. Varberg Fortress

Varberg's fortress, historically also Varberg Castle, a former defense plant in Varberg , Halland County . The fortress was originally built in the late 1200s as a fortress and was expanded in the late 1500s and early 1600s to a strong fortress, one of the most modern in Northern Europe. After the fortress building has fortification never engaged in any military conflict. It was in Swedish hands by the Peace of Bromsebro 1645 . Varberg Fortress was removed from the national defense in 1830 .From the Middle Ages and until 1931 served also as a fortress prison . Both the medieval dungeon that Crown Prison, with individual cells from 1852 are preserved.

Halland cultural history museum

Halland cultural museeum, former County Museum of Varberg, located in Varberg Fortress.The collections show Bockstensmannen , a bone from the 1300s with well-preserved hair and costume, and the famous pearl which is assumed to have killed Charles XII . The theory of pearl is questioned and DNA -studies made in recent years has not brought clarity on the issue. There is also a permanent exhibition of hanging paintings . The museum is the city and the history of the fortress for over 700 years documented. To the county museum is also a bicycle museum set up in Karl XI team with several unique items. Varberg Kallbadhus

Varberg Kallbadhus stands on stilts in the sea ( Kattegat ) at the Promenade in Varberg . The art gallery

Art Gallery / Gallery magazine, often just Hamnmagasinet, is an art gallery in Port of Varberg , opposite the Campus Varberg . It is powered by Varberg municipality by Minister of Culture and Recreation Department.The art gallery displays temporary exhibits by various artists. Among the leading artists exhibited include Ernst Billgren with Helene Billgren . The art gallery is housed on the third floor of an old granary in yellow brick from 1874. The building is also a pottery, glasblasarverkstaden Glass Works and artists' studios in the attic

Seurahuone

Societetshuset or popularly Societén is a heritage building declared a building from 1886 in Varberg , Halland County . The building was designed by Adrian C. Peterson , and is in the Moorish style . The building is similar Garden Society in Gothenburg , designed by the same architect . Societe underwent a renovation in 1911 . Then painted it on so they got their current color scheme, from previously being darker. Later, the building also had other colors, but after a renovation in 1997 , it has returned the colors it was the 1911th The building was declared in 1980 .

The promenade

Varberg boardwalk in the central town of Varberg , Varberg Municipality , Halland County , was built in 1912 by the "Society Varberg boardwalk".It begins in the port area at the driveway to Varberg Fortress , rounding it and passes thereby Fortress terrace with its serving.
