By Air

Valledupar has only a medium sized airport for medium and small aircraft; the Alfonso Lopez Airport that receives national and somee charter flights. Only four airlines cover this route, Avianca, SAM Colombia, SATENA and Aires Colombia.

By Road

The road network of Valledupar is structured as a hexagon whose center is at the roundabout of La Ceiba and Musicians.You enter the city on three roads: the southwest, from Barranquilla you enter the city through the avenue Foundation, on the south, the road enters La Paz - Valledupar, north is the national route that connects with San Juan del Cesar through the village of Badillo.Other routes of four-lane dual carriageway and is the Eastern Circunvalar, races: 9. By Bus

Vallenato Legend Festival

is the most popular event and recognized the music vallenato in Colombia, described by the foundation that organizes itself (Foundation of the Vallenato Legend Festival) as "an event that works and tends to defend and spread expression known as folk and popular vallenato music in four of their air, ride, merengue, puya and are.The Festival is held the last week of April, ending the 30th of that month although sometimes it can extend to the first days of May of each year in the city in Colombia to Valledupar and among several music competitions choose the best professional accordion player of the year.The Festival was held until 2003 in the Plaza Alfonso Lopez.Participants were presented on stage Francisco "The Man" in the same plaza.Since 2004, the Festival is held at the Park of the Vallenato Legend, complex cultural, musical and folkloric built to house the ever growing crowd of spectators that the square was already unable to support.Participants compete on stage "Compai Chipuco" under the bandshell "Cachuca Bacana".

Barranquilla's Carnival

is Colombia's most important folklore celebration one of the biggest carnivals in the world.The carnival has traditions that date back to the 19th century.Forty days before Holy Week Barranquilla decks itself out to receive national and foreign tourists and join together with the city's inhabitants to enjoy four days of intense festivities.During the carnival Barranquilla's normal activities are paralyzed because the city gets busy with street dances, musical and masquerade parades.Barranquilla´s Carnival includes dances like the Spanish paloteo, African congo and indigenous mico y micas.Many styles of Colombian music are also performed, most prominently cumbia and instruments include drums and wind ensembles.The Carnival of Barranquilla was proclaimed Cultural Masterpiece of the Nation by Colombia's National Congress on 2002.Also the UNESCO in Paris on November 7, 2003, declared it as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity and it was during Olga Lucia Rodriquez Carnival Queen year.

Consuelo Araujo Noguera Library

was inaugurated on May 8, 2002 created with the main purpose of contributing to social, educational and cultural development of the community with an initial collection of about 12,000 volumes in all areas of human knowledge. It has achieved up to date, a space for kids, youth and adults, it has given access to all users in this society to literature workshops, plastic arts, music, conferences, expositions and local writer's book presentations.General collection and reference: It has one lecture room with a capacity for a hundred people, with open shelves and open access to collections for users. Children's room and workshop: independently, it also has a lecture and workshop room for children, with a collection specialized in children and youth's literature, as well as audiovisual materials and other elements to work in plastic arts. In this room, starting at 10 A.M. on Saturdays, a project of story telling goes on called "La Hora del Cuento" (the story time) and on Fridays at 4 P.M. the presentation of movies for children.

Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park

is Colombia's second oldest national park, established in 1964.It is located in the Cordillera Oriental range, between the departments of La Guajira, Magdalena and Cesar in the mountain range of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.It is a sanctuary as well as a tourist attraction because it offers different climate, terrain, flora and fauna environments ranging from beaches to snowy mountain peaks.

Guatapuri River

is a river of the Caribbean coast of Colombia, north of the country, located in the department of Cesar.Curigua born in the lagoon, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, at 4,400 m and flows into the right side of Cesar River, near the city of Valledupar.Throughout its course it receives, among others, the rivers Donachui, Curiba, mangoes and Mamanqueca.In a drop of 85 km, its average gradient is 20%.Its waters are discharged into the river Cesar near the city of Valledupar.The river basin Guatapuri in half is a torrential stream and flows through a canyon of steep flanks; battleship block is a different composition heterométricos but predominantly of igneous rocks.On their way through northern Valledupar is the spa of Hurtado, principal place of recreation and fun capital of Cesar.In this site are the Pueblito Vallenato and Linear Park. Also feeds water to the aqueduct of the city.
