How to Reach

By Air

The only way to fly to Saratov is from Domodedevo Airport in Moscow with Saravia.The flight takes about an hour and a half and can cost approximately 5100 rubles.They fly Yak40 and Yak42 aircraft which have been made in Saratov.Saravia also operates summer seasonal flights from Frankfurt and Hanover.Flights must usually be booked and paid same day at the airport in cash.Optionally flights can be purchased at TK Primavera, the only DMC in Saratov.Pickup of the tickets is then available at the airport before departure.

By Train

Otherwise the best way to get there is by Saratov Rail from Moscow's Pavletsky Station, which takes approximately 15-16 h.The trains operate overnight, departing in the afternoon/evening, arriving in the morning. Saratov is also accessible via rail from Samara to the north (train 10 hours, 400 km) and Volgograd and Astrakhan to the south.The St. Petersburg-Astrakhan line passes through Saratov.It takes about 26 hours to travel from St. Petersburg to Saratov on train.

By Bus

There are also buses between Saratov and many other cities, including Moscow.However, the comfort and value of the rail system over the vast distances involved makes the bus service a comparatively unattractive option.

By Ferry

River cruises down the Volga operate during the summer months (early May to end of September).Dozens of boats operated by different companies run from Moscow to Astrakhan. One way or return cruises may be reserved to/from practically any city along the Volga. Moscow to Astrakhan (one-way) with three daily meals is 15,000 rubles (approximately $500 US).Without meals, approximately 8000-9000 rubles.

Trinity Cathedral

is a cathedral in Saratov (Cathedral of the Holy Trinity) - Orthodox Cathedral on Museum Square in the Volga region of Saratov.Full name - Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.Saratov was founded as a fortress guarding in the 1590 Moscow musketeers. From its foundation to the establishment in 1799 Saratov-Penza diocese of the Church in the city of Astrakhan subordinate bishops.The first wooden Church of the Trinity, which stood on the site of the cathedral, was built with the blessing of the bishop of Astrakhan Parthenius in 1674 - 1675, respectively.The temple was erected in a very short time and only in the central area of Saratov.Ten years later, in 1684, Trinity Church burned down in flames next Saratov fire.Without the parish priest Ignatius Danilov monks beat with brow Metropolitan Astrakhan and Terek Savvaty, asking him to bless and "different ranks," the inhabitants of Saratov to prepare all that was necessary for the construction of the cathedral and then start building the temple and the most "in the same place and the same name".

Saratov Art Museum

The State Museum of Konstantin Fedin

Housed in an architectural monument of the XVIII century, one of the oldest in the city.The museum exposition is recreated on the archive materials of the writer passed to his daughter Nina Konstantinovna Fedina as a gift.For thirty years the collection has replenished with more than 60 000 exhibits.To date, the only museum of the Lower Volga region, dedicated to the history of literature of the twentieth century, has an extensive collection of fine art, manuscripts, journals and books .In 2011 two projects were the winner of the Museum of Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation Programme "Support to the priorities of the fundamental humanitarian research".

Square Theatre

Is the center of the city, as it is at the intersection of the most important central streets of the city and is one of the largest squares in the world  more than 64 thousand m2.The area is home to some of the structure and square restricting the free part of the area up to 10,2 thousand m2.The area was very poorly equipped with modern amenities to the end of 1950. Stunted little square between the theater and the museum was expanded and renovated after a mass grave on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution, a monument was erected. After 10 years, was lit an eternal flame. Monument to Lenin Square, and around it was opened in 1970.
