Sao Jose do Rio Preto is served by Prof. Eribelto Manoel Reino Airport (IATA: SJP, ICAO: SBSR).It is named after the local lawyer, accountant, economist and politician Eribelto Manoel Reino (1941–1987).It is operated by DAESP.The airport is located 3 km (2 mi) from downtown Sao Jose do Rio Preto.

By Train

Sao Jose do Rio Preto railway station was opened (originally as Black River) on June 9th of 1912 the railroad Araraquara.For many years it remained as the endpoint of the trunk.During the 30s EFA undergoes a process of modernization and expansion of lines that would come to Mirasol in 1933.During this phase of modernization of the railway station Prerto River has built a new building being delivered on 4 May of 1941.At that time the city takes its present name and the station is renamed Sao Jose do Rio Preto.In 1971 the railroad Araraquara is incorporated by Fepasa, which performs reforms in stations during the 70's and 80's.With the end of Fepasa in 1998, the railway is privatized and so the San Jose station is to be administered by Ferroban (which was later merged into ALL ).The last passenger train departed from Sao Jose do Rio Preto on March 15, 2001.Currently Sao Jose do Rio Preto is one of the few stations still operating in the state, although only for the transportation of cargo.

Brazil in January of Comedy

it is a festival of theater focused on comedy.The event was first held in 2003 and attracted more than four thousand spectators at the Municipal Theatre.Its duration is eight days, always in January, and performances are held at the Municipal Theatre Neto Humberto Sinibaldi.

Carnival street

the street is an event open to the public and held annually in preriodo the carnival, the Avenue Jose Ernesto Vetorazzo.The parade that unites the four samba schools of the city (Golden Tiger, United States of Boa Vista, Empire of the Sun and the Black Pearl), and block associations and private clubs. The Municipal Department of Culture is responsible for the election of the Carnival King and Queen and the eventual realization of popular dances.

International Theatre Festival of Sao Jose do Rio Preto

is performed by the Mayor of Black River, in partnership with SESC-SP and was sponsored by Petrobras, the Caixa Economica Federal, the State Government of Sao Paulo, the National Foundation Arts (Funarte) of the Nossa Caixa and promotion of TV Globo.It lasts ten days and the event is the most visible of the city across the country, held in July.It is considered one of the main cultural events in Brazil and is among the top five festivals in theater in the country.


Brazilian rodeios can be traced to the town of Barretos where the primary economic activities involved livestock and the transporting the livestock to other locations, where one of the ways the cowboys found to get some entertainment was riding the animals.In 1956 the first ever Festa do Peao de Boiadeiro was created and as the years went by this rodeo became the biggest in Brazil and in Latin America.Barretos is the most famous rodeo in Brazil; however, rodeos are very common in inner state towns in Brazil, especially in the state of Sao Paulo.

Anisio Haddad Stadium

is the stadium of Brazil located in Sao Jose do Rio Preto.It seats 18,670 people and was inaugurated on April 21 of 1968.This is the stage of the Black River Sports Club and was named in honor of Anisio Haddad, former president of the club.The old stadium where the club sent its games was the Stadium Britto Vitor Bastos.
