By train

Roosendaal has a station on the line Zeeland.In 1854 the company made a Belgian railway to Antwerp. This was a tremendous boost to the development of Roosendaal. Connections with Rotterdam, Flushing and Breda were the Roosendaal train station a real railway junction. An open border did not exist. Customs offices and shipping companies soon settled near the border station. The growth of Roosendaal to capture, in 1907 a large station complex in use.

St John's Church

The St. John's Church, in full John the Baptist , a Roman Catholic Church to the Market in Roosendaal .Roosendaal was initially dependent on the parish Nispen . In 1268 a chapel was built in the third quarter of the 15th century was replaced by a new church. In 1510 it was elevated to a parish church dedicated to Saint John. Like the parish Nispen, rested the patronage of the parish in Roosendaal Abbey Tongerlo . During the last quarter of the 16th century, during the Eighty Years' War , the church was severely damaged several times by fire and looting. In 1648 she was expropriated by the Protestant church, and in 1807 returned to the Catholics. The church was severely lapsed, it was the western part of the church in the 17th century been largely demolished. The church was also deemed too small by the Catholics. So it was demolished and replaced by a flood church . Only the tower remained, and the new church was built against.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church

The Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church is a Roman Catholic church at the wharf 27 in Roosendaal .The church was built in neo-Romanesque and neobyzantijnse style was designed by Theo Asseler . The building dates from 1868 and was originally the convent of the Fathers Redemptorists .It is a three-aisled cruciform church with two towers and a large central tower . The towers are each 37 meters high. The crossing tower was added at a magnification of between 1907 and 1909 , led by Pierre Cuypers .The interior is covered by diagonal rib vault with a height of about 18.8 meters. The internal height of the dome is 27.7 meter . The church also owns a holy water font 2 baking stone and a pulpit dating from 1807. The church was once part of a Redemptorist monastery . Roosendaal town hall

The former town hall of Roosendaal in a market is an original late-16th-century building.The building has been amended over the years. Just down the vaulted space was preserved. Around 1750 , the rectangular building with a hipped roof with dakruiter and a facade with center risaliet and pediment . In 1895 , further changes but in 1975 again been undone.In the former council chamber is a stone fireplace in Louis XV style from 1752 , by the Antwerp artist M. Danco.

Museum Tongerlohuys

The Museum is a museum in Tongerlohuys Roosendaal , located in the Tongerlohuys to Molenstraat 2.Besides the permanent collection, changing exhibitions, including contemporary art. In the garden statues exhibited.When in 1932 the Archaeological Circle "Ghulden The Rose" was founded, was a collection built up since 1936 was exhibited in an area of the former Town Hall of Roosendaal . Antiquity Museum room named "The Ghulden Rose". In 1974 the museum was transferred to the Tongerlohuys.When in 1991 the left wing moved Municipal established, this wing was also involved in the museum. In the right wing there was an exhibition space of Int Heyderadey, a foundation to promote the arts. Vrouwenhof

Vrouwenhof is the name of a city park in Roosendaal that developed from a historic mansion .The name comes from Hadewich of Strijen , the second wife of Nicholas of Reimerswaal , and Lady of Roosendaal. Around 1300, a court and seat of a manor built. This was in 1501 at the Lord of Breda and thus ultimately to the House of Orange .Nicholas Rockox , the court had held. Probably Prince Maurits this house is used as a hunting lodge here, and almost certainly were preliminary negotiations that led to the Peace of Westphalia in 1648.
