By Air

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the main air gateway to Arizona. It is in East Phoenix 3 mi (5 km) from downtown. It is the primary hub for US Airways and a major hub for Great Lakes Airlines and Southwest Airlines.Terminals are numbered from 2-4. There is no Terminal 1.

By Train

Due to a dispute among the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Union Pacific Railroad, and Amtrak, passenger train service to Phoenix has been discontinued. Amtrak passengers may disembark at Maricopa, Arizona (25 mi/40 km south of Phoenix) and arrange their own travel into the city. No regular shuttle service currently exists.

By car

Interstate 10 enters Phoenix from the south and west, and Interstate 17 comes in from the north. US Route 60 is also a major route into Phoenix from the east. Arizona State Route 87 comes in south from Payson.

Arizona Science Center

The Arizona Science Center in Phoenix has 350 interactive exhibits, a giant screen theater and a planetarium. The computerized planetarium seats 200 people.This institution was formerly called the Arizona Museum of Science and Technology.

Desert Botanical Garden

Located in Papago Park, the Desert Botanical Garden has examples of vegetation from deserts in different parts of the world and a cactus garden. The flowers are particularly beautiful in spring.

Heritage Square

In Heritage Square are eight lovingly restored houses dating from the city's early days.
Rosson House is the cornerstone of this city block that dates from the late 1800s. Museums, shops and restaurants now inhabit the block. The restored buildings were from the original townsite of Phoenix.

South Mountain Park

South Mountain Park in Phoenix is the world's largest city park, covering over 15,000 acres of desert country. Miles of trails are ideal for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking.
