Castle of Peniscola Palace

The Castle Centre Peniscola, also called Castillo del Papa Luna is located on the highest point of rock overlooking the city, reaching a height of 64 m above sea level. Its perimeter is about 230 m and has an average height of 20 m. The Templars built the Romanesque work on the remains of the ancient Arab castle between 1294 and 1307.The Papa Luna, one of the most universally known Hispanic figures, yet controversial, moved in 1411 to Peniscola turning his castle papal palace and library.
