How to Reach

By plane

  Skavsta Airport- Used by Ryanair. Lies some 140 km North-East of Motala. A shuttle bus (90 min) overland link between Linkoping and Skavsta airport.
  Linkoping Airport- 40 km East from Motala. Flights almost only to Stockholm, Amsterdam, Riga and Copenhagen. There are no shuttles between the airport and Linkoping central station and you need to take a taxi from the airport.
  Norrkoping Airport - Flights almost only to Helsinki, Visby, München and Copenhagen. Lies 90 km East of Motala.

By train

The Motala train station is linked with Mjolby in the South and Hallsberg in the North. From Hallsberg, you reach both Stockholm and Gothenburg. From Mjolby, you reach Malmo/Copenhagen.

By car

  245km south of Stockholm.
  90km south of Norrkoping.
  450km north of Malmo/Copenhagen.
  15km north of Vadstena.

By bus

Buses leave from the Bussterminalen close to the Main Square. Swebus Express. Motala is on one line of the wide network of Swebus Express services.
    The local bus company is called ostgotatrafiken. They also run the buses and trains in the rest of ostergotland and is the cheapest way to get to Motala.

Charlotte Castle

Charlotte Castle is a castle building in Motala , Motala Municipality in ostergotland . The main building is located at the Motala River and has given name to the neighborhood-Charlottenborg-as it now is in.The castle was built in stone in the middle of 1662 of the Count and cavalry colonel at ostgota rider , Louis Wierich Lewenhaupt , who had received land in fief 1651st He named it after his wife Charlotte Susanne Marie von Hohenlohe-Neuenstein und Gleichen.At Charles XI 's reduction was the property returned to the crown, but was sold soon, and once again became privately held.

Motala Fire Museum

Motala Fire Museum was a museum in Motala , ostergotland . The museum was about 400 historical objects from Motala firefighters , including one of the city's first fire trucks and items from Motala Workshop industrial fire brigades . The museum ceased in 2008 after several years of dormancy. Parts of the exhibition were taken over by the nearby Motor Museum .

Motala church

Motala's Church is a church building in Motala in Linkoping diocese . It is the parish church in Motala congregation . The church is located at Prastgatan between the port and main square in Motala city center. Motala church was long annexe to Win City but is now himself the mother church and the parish church. Interment has taken place after the end of the nineteenth century. In the churchyard is the manager Daniel Fraser buried. There is also a memorial to him. Among other buildings are stores, outbuilding and a chapel (1956 ). Fencing is the hedge and drywall .

Motor Museum

Motor Museum is a museum in Motala port, Motala Municipality.The museum opened in 1995 and the base of the exhibitions is the founder, Jan-Ove Bolls private collection. The museum has about 30,000 visitors annually. The museum has a café and gift shop

Motala town hall

Town Hall in Motala was built in 1895 - 97 , designed by architect Gustaf Lindgren as a private residence for Captain CA Ahlbom . He had no heirs and bequeathed the building to Motala city. After the captain's death was donated to the city and was inaugurated as the town hall in 1910 .
The building is located in central Motala near the canal and Canal Park. The area was called at the turn of 1900 for Villa city, where high society built their private palaces there. Today only a few of these left, and City Hall is the grandest of them.
