By Train

Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate Conception

The early church was on the same site as the current one.The first book parish starts August 1783 with the baptism of the child Belos Lorenzo, being the first priest Fray Jose Agustín Ramos.The book was opened for burials on 22 August of that year, the death of the same child.The wedding book (headings), opened on January 3, 1784, on celebrating the marriage of Peter Knight and Anna Maria.It was located next to the headquarters, was built on a temporary basis and served for 47 years.In time Berrel Priest, formed a committee to continue the work of the Temple was inaugurated on April 10, 1892, celebrating Mass with the presence of the priest Jose De Luca, with an attendance of 1,500.

Dam Carlos Mggiolo

The proposed purification plant and pumping water for the city of Minas was approved in January 1933 by the National Council, in accordance with the Ministry of Public Works.This Plant was opened in 1934 under the name of Mr.Carlos Maggiolo.Currently, besides working on-site water treatment plant of SBI, is a place to visit for its scenery, the bridge and the artificial lake of the dam, which is gathering place for fishermen, amateurs and professionals.

Theatre Lavalleja

It was inaugurated on December 8, 1909, as part of the festival in honor of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception with the presence of musicians, poets and writers.Building erected by the Catholic Union of Uruguay.Construction of austere bare brick front, living room with two rows of box very spacious, wide audience with a stage regularly.The Architect Catalan Monravà Buigas and conceived and directed the work.For this theater, marched in over the years national and international artists.

Hill Monument to General Artigas

The sketches of the works were created by the artist himself and his father the illustrious Jose Belloni.The sculpture was inaugurated on 19 October 1974 on top of the hill Ventura, who later became known as Mount Artigas.The monument is 280 m.Withstand winds of up to 220 km per hour and its height is 10 meters by 9 meters wide, not counting the base.Has a weight of 135,000 kg and was built with reinforced concrete (like the Cristo Redentor in Rio de Janeiro), leading plaster and bronze in the belly of the horse industry.It was declared a National Historic Landmark and is claimed to be the "largest equestrian monument in the world."

House of Culture

The Culture House is home to several museums, and still kept inside the house where the hero Juan Antonio Lavalleja.Under the same infrastructure work several museums, the City Library as well as exhibition rooms and an amphitheater with 300 seats.It also has many museums: Museum of Eduardo Fabini, Juan Jose Morosoli Museum, City Museum, Museum of Santiago Dossetti, lytic Museum, the gaucho and Indian, Regional Museum of the Casa de la Cultura.

Rodo Park

It is located north on Avenida San Martin.For its extension and amenities is a favorite for hikers who visit the city.Inside run a mini zoo and the Municipal Pool, and facilities are celebrated susx in April of each year the Mines Festival in November and April and the Boar Safari.

Week Lavalleja
