How to Reach

By plane

Malaga has the third biggest international airport (AGP) in Spain, which many budget airlines fly to. There are even summer flights to New York. From the airport you can get a train, a bus or a taxi into town, or hire a car. A taxi to the city center will cost about €15. Bus no. 19 costs €1.10 (correct in Feb 2010) and is very convenient, running every 30 minutes and stopping at Alameda Principal and Paseo del Parque, where most of the local buses that serve the city stop as well. The route map for bus 19 can be seen on the web. The stop names are shown on an electronic display inside the bus so you can tell when to get off.

By train

The train station is right next to the bus station, a km or so west of the centre. There are fast connections from Madrid and Barcelona. Málaga is easily accessible by train from nearby tourist towns of Torremolinos and Fuengirola.

By boat

There is a ferry route between Malaga and Melilla in North Africa with Transmediterranea. Book early.

By bus

The bus station is right next to the train station, a km or so west of the centre. There are buses from all over Spain and even from as far as Romania.

By car

The A-7 E-15 motorway runs along the coast to from Gibraltar to Almeria and through Murcia and on.
The A-45 motorway runs from Cordoba to Malaga.
By car hire Auto Europe to Malaga.

By taxi

You can get a taxi from Malaga Airport taxi rank just outside the arrivals hall of Terminal 2. Generally, there are taxis available, although you may have to queue and in summer the queues can be very long. A typical journey to Malaga city centre will cost around €20, a journey to Malaga Port will cost around €25.

Picasso Foundation

The Fundación Picasso, also known as the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Foundation, is a foundation based in Malaga, Andalusia, Spain with the objective of promoting and promulgating the work of the artist Pablo Picasso. They are headquartered in the home on the Plaza de la Merced that was his birthplace, now the Museo Casa Natal ("Birthplace Museum"), one of the world's many Picasso museums.

Picasso Museum Malaga

The Museo Picasso Malaga is a museum in Malaga, Andalusia, Spain, the city where artist Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born.One of the world's many Picasso museums, it opened in 2003 in the Buenavista Palace, and has 155 works donated by members of Picasso's family.In 2009, the Fundacion Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso that owned the collection merged with the Fundacion Museo Picasso Malaga that operated the museum,which is based in the home on Malaga's Plaza de la Merced that was Picasso's birthplace, and is now the Museo Casa Natal ("Birthplace Museum") The new merged foundation is the "Fundación Museo Picasso Malaga. Legado Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso"

Palacio de la Aduana

The Palacio de la Aduana ("Customs Palace") is a building in Malaga, Andalusia, Spain, originally a customs house for the Port of Malaga.
The building was proposed by Manuel Martín Rodríguez in 1787 and approved by Charles III of Spain. Work began in 1791 under the direction of administrador general of Customs Pedro Ortega Monroy and architects Miguel del Castillo and Ildefonso Valcarcel, who designed the principal façade and floor plans. Work was still under way in 1810 when the building was sacked during the occupation of Malaga by French forces during the Peninsular War; after the war, damage was repaired and construction continued. Architect Pedro Nolasco Ventura made various modifications to the plans, and the building was completed in 1829

Gibralfaro

Gibralfaro is an ancient fortress on a mount of 131 metres, located in Malaga in southeast Spain. It dates back to the time when the Phoenicians founded the present city of Malaga. At the beginning of the14th century, Yusuf I of the Kingdom of Granada constructed Gibralfaro Castle, on an old Phoenician enclosure. The name is derived from the Phoenician word for light, Jbel-Faro, meaning "Rock of Light". The castle overlooks the modern city of Malaga and the Mediterranean Sea.
