By plane
Regional Express (REX) flies direct to Lismore Airport (LSY). REX, Virgin Blue and Qantas fly to Ballina (Byron) from where it's a 40 minute drive. Usually cheaper to fly to Gold Coast and then drive - about 90 minutes.
By car
Inland from. Follow the signs from the Pacific Hwy. A bus also operates from Ballina, however it is infrequent and generally only operates during daylight hours. Other outlying areas may or may not be serviced by buses-check the timetable before travelling, not afterwards. In general, the last bus will leave around 5:00 PM, sometimes later.
The Wilsons River
The Wilsons River runs through town-however it is dirty and some people may not wish to swim in it, although it is safe in that there are no crocodiles, or sharks-in spite of the legend of "Hector", a crocodile rumoured to have inhabited the river at one point-he is long gone.
Lismore Regional Art Gallery
There area few historical buidlings and churches about the town and the Lismore Regional Art Gallery is worth a look. There is sometimes an interesting music and creative scene about the town as there are music and art students, as well as alternative lifestylers in Lismore.
