Terpensmole

The Terpensmole at IJlst is a polder of type spinnenkop . The mill was originally Sneek .The mill is owned by Foundation Fryske Mole . The windmill was restored in 1981-1982 and the National Mills Day 8 May 1982 officially by the mayor of Sneek into use. By including the planting of trees was near the mill, however inappropriate, and after a rod break in 2008 it was decided to move the mill.In 2011 the mill was moved to IJlst , where he voluntarily bemaalt polder. He stands at about 300 meters from the sawmill,the Rat.Near the site of the Terpensmole was formerly a spinnenkopmolen.

Brass Knocker

The Brass Knocker is a monumental house in IJlst , located on the Eegracht . It was built in 1669 and is on Mill Rat after the oldest surviving building in IJlst. The building has a classic Renaissance gable . The property is in 1919 bought by the Vereniging Hendrick de Keyser in 1926 restored.

The Rat

The Rat is an octagonal tower mill in IJlst and was built in 1828. Next to the windmill is the mill house.The Rat is one of the three sawmills in Friesland. The others are the Hunter in Woudsend and the Swallow in Birdaard .The mill comes from the Zaan and was built in 1683 as balkenzager. He was then called "The Walrot", meaning "water rat" meant. From 1918, the mill power cut and the mill was stripped of his hood. Until 1950 it was commercially cut. The municipality has preserved the mill demolition and 1968/1967 external restored using parts from other mills.In June 2008, the National Service for Archaeology, Cultural Landscape and Monuments 126,514 euros for a restoration of the Rat.

Old Town Hall

The old town hall was built in IJlst 1859 to a design by Albert Breunissen Troost and is a striking building that protrudes above the other buildings.It stands on the site of the old, large hall , from the 14th century . It is a national monument , with a roof of slate .In 1984 , the villages IJlst and Wymbritseradeel merged, thus, all municipal services to IJlst moved. An old school was used as offices for Social Affairs and the rest came into the town hall, which was extended at the back. As a result, lack of space.
