By train

Hengelo has two train stations :
 Hengelo , stop here either international, intercity and local trains.
 Hengelo East trains stop here.
The station is on the Hengelo-Enschede routes Amersfoort-Zutphen Oldenzaal. International trains from Schiphol to Hengelo and Berlin. Intercity trains from Hengelo Hengelo to drive from Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam and Enschede. Stop Trains run from Hengelo to Zwolle, Apeldoorn, Zutphen and Oldenzaal. In summer there is a night train to Schiphol.

By Buses

The urban and regional in Hengelo and is part of the public transport concession area Twente.
The bus station is located on the back of the drive.

Old water tower

The old water tower in the Dutch town of Hengelo was designed by architect Dish in January and was built in 1896 - 1897 . The water tower has a height of 29.2 meters and a water tank of 300 m.In 1948 the tower was renovated. In October 2010 showed that the piles are severely affected, causing the water tower is leaning toward the Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadium and it is feared that the tower will fall. The area has declared off limits

Lock Hengelo

The lock Hengelo is one of the three locks in the Twente Canal , which here CEMT Class IV. This lock in Hengelo with 9 meters the biggest drop of the three. The lock chamber is 12 meters wide and 140 meters long, with a useful protective length of 133 meters.The sill depth in the upper door is 3.75 meters below canal level . The down side is equipped with doors hanging with an internal seal and is reportedly the only one in the Netherlands with this type of door. The upper door is a more common guillotine . The largest ship that so far had a gun was in Hengelo capacity of 2300 tons

Water Church

Water Church is the name for Dutch churches between 1824 and 1875 with financial support from the national government were built. The design and construction of these churches were subject to the approval and monitoring by engineers from the Ministry of Public Works . Contrary to popular belief, the concept of Water Church is not associated with a particular architectural style.

Our Lady

The Our Lady of Hengelo is a Roman Catholic church with both neo-Gothic influences and attributes in the style of the Delft School . She has since 1 January 2010 ownership of the Hengelo parish of Good Shepherd. Architect Wolter te Riele has designed the church, and in 1926 began construction. On 31 May 1927 the church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Utrecht , Mgr. Van de Wetering , and June 5 at the church first came into use. Since 1998, Our Lady a national monument . In 2003 followed the advice of the National Cultural Heritage a renovation .

Water Tower

The water tower of Stork in the Dutch city of Hengelo was built in 1902 . The water tower served first as a water tower for Stork , and after 1917 as a water tower for steam locomotives .

Twente Technology Museum HEIM

The Twente Technology Museum is a museum in Hengelo .The museum shows the Twente industry , past, present and future. The museum is dynamically assembled half century industrial development. From steam engines to space . The museum motto is Learn! Play! Enjoy!, Also use the term forbidden to continue. The museum has the following departments: machine building , electronics , radar and detection, telecommunications , textiles , education and process engineering . The museum also has a cafe, museum shop and an extensive library .

Historic Museum Hengelo

The Historic Museum Hengelo is a museum in Hengelo in the Dutch province of Overijssel . In Twente called the museum called "Oald Pole.The Historical Museum is located in Hengelo more than 100 years old mansion in the heart of Hengelo. In 1974 the foundation bought Oald Hengel Hengelo with support from the city and the building started in 1976 an ancient room. In February 2004, the ancient chamber officially recognized museum: Historic Museum Hengelo.

Arts Centre Hengelo

The Arts Center Hengelo, also Akkuh , one in fine arts oriented center in Hengelo . The center is gevstigd in a factory building of the former factory Hazemeyer electric generator . After a restoration of the factory building was Art Center in 2008 in Hengelo, the building started. In the center also include exhibitions, debates , lectures, media arts , educational projects and guided tours.
