How to Reach

By railway

There is a train conection from Bilbao's Abando station departing every 15-30 minutes. There is a train each hour from Atxuri station and the journey takes around 50 minutes. Alternatively there is a bus which is slightly quicker.

By plane

Bilbao Airport (IATA: BIO) is served by Lufthansa, Spanair, Air France, Air Berlin, TuiFly, AerLingus, Iberia, Air Europa, Vueling and several other airlines. Easy Jet flies from London Stansted to Bilbao airport. You can also fly with Ryanair to Santander.

By boat

A direct car ferry is available between Bilbao and Portsmouth, England. It is best to book early, since the ferry is often booked out in summer. By taking the P&O ferry to Bilbao and immediately returning, a mini-cruise can be had which allows approximately two and a half hours in Bilbao.

Parish Church of Santa Maria

Parish Church of Santa Maria, one of the best examples of Gothic Basque, is located on the top of the village. Its construction dates back to 1418, in the style Gothic, but later underwent various modifications, in fact it was not completed until 1715, when Renaissance.

Tree of Guernica

The Tree of Guernica is an oak in front of the Casa de Juntas in Vizcaya town Guernica and Luno . This tree symbolizes the traditional liberties of Biscay and the Basques, and by extension those of the Basques .The Lord of Biscay Biscay swore to respect civil liberties under this oak. When the Manor was incorporated into the Kingdom of Castile, the title of Lord of Vizcaya became transmitted together with the King of Castile, and later in Spain

Park of the Peoples of Europe

Houses sculptures by Eduardo Chillida (Gure Aitaren Etxea) and Henry Moore (Great figure in a eefugio). This park opened in October 1991, contains an interesting variety of trees and shrubs in four distinct sectors in structure and composition. At the other north, which houses the sculptures of Chillida and Henry Moore, is an open tree cover, on the east, on the other hand, are located four Euskadi Atlantic ecosystems: beech, oak, oaks and vegetation of the shore . In the south lies the pond and the rest of the park is occupied by a classical garden.

Peace Monument

Gure Etxea Aitaren: sculptor Eduardo Chillida, was inaugurated on 27 April 1988, commissioned by the Basque Government to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Bombing of Guernica. The title of the work means 'our father', is a monument to peace and is oriented towards the tree, symbol of tradition and history of Guernica.

The Museum about the history of the bombing of Guernica. The exhibits on display give us a vision of what constitutes Guernica through its history for all Basques ( Democracy, Charters, Freedom ) and what today symbolizes world ( Human Rights, Peace).

Museum Euskal Herria

Located in the Joy Palace, was entirely rebuilt in the mid- eighteenth century on the old site, which retain only a loophole and a window. It sets out the characteristics of Baroque style in urban areas: stone facade with masonry, balconies and latticed shield Allende Salazar family. Today opens Euskal Herria Museum, Ethnographic Museum on the history of the Basque Country

Mural Guernica

A handmade reproduction of the work that faithfully represents the composition by Pablo Picasso after learning of the bombing of Guernica on April 26, 1937. In Picasso's work has been added at the bottom marked 'Guernica Guernica "(in Castilian," The Guernica Guernica "), the motto of the movement for the location of the original work in the village. His presence is the testimonial value of a social demand.

Gernika Peace Museum Foundation

A thematic museum inspired by the 1937 bombing. It examines the nature of peace, the legacy of the Gernika bombing and peace in the modern world.
