By Air

The nearest airport is in the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa (60 km).There are no airports in Gabrovo or the neighboring cities of Kazanluk or Veliko Turnovo.However, arranging transport by bus or train from one of the Bulgarian cities with an airport to Gabrovo is relatively simple.

By Train

Gabrovo may be accessed through a railroad spur at an intersection with the European railway line C-E 95 (which runs north-south) in the small village of Tsareva Livada.Stops on the mainline to the north include historic Veliko Turnovo and the major transport hub of Gorna Oryahovitsa and stops to the south include the mountain villages of Tryavna and Raduntsi and the city Stara Zagora on the southern side of the Balkan Mountains.The spur line from Tsareva Livada runs several times a day, though there are sometimes two hours layovers at the Tsareva Livada railroad station between the Gabrovo train and trains running on the main north-south line.

By Bus

Regular daily buses connect Gabrovo with most of the other major cities in Bulgaria, including Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Rousse and others.These may be dedicated lines, serving only Gabrovo and the other city, or Gabrovo may simply be one stop among many.

By Car

Gabrovo is at an intersection point of two of the national arterial thoroughfares, which are of great significance to the European road network, i.e. road E-85 as part of the trans-European transport corridor № 9 (Helsinki - St. Petersburg - Kiev - Bucharest - Rousse - Veliko Tarnovo - Gabrovo - Dimitrovgrad with deviations to Greece and Turkey) and Hemus Motorway Sofia – Varna.

Central Balkan National Park

The Central Balkan National Park lies in the heart of Bulgaria, nestled in the central and higher portions of the Balkan Range.The Park contains rare and endangered wildlife species and communities, self-regulating ecosystems of biological diversity, as well as historical sites of global cultural and scientific significance.The Central Balkan National Park was established in 1991 to conserve the unique natural scenery and heritage of this area and protect the customs and livelihood of the local population.The Park Directorate, a regional body of the MiniStrY of the Environment and Waters manages the Park.The Directorate engages local organizations, volunteers and mountain enthusiasts in pursuing its goals.The Central Balkan National Park is one of the largest and most valuable of the protected areas in Europe.The World Conservation Union (IUCN) has listed the Park as Category 2.The Park and eight of its nature reserves are on the UN List of Representative Protected Areas and four of its nature reserves are included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves under the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program.The Central Balkan National Park has become a full member of the WWF-led PAN (Protected Area Network) Parks.

Racho Stoyanov Drama Theatre

is a drama theatre located in the town of Gabrovo.DT Racho Stoyanov was founded on 10 October 1945 year.In his artistic career are listed the names of famous actors Nevena Kokanova, Violeta Minkova, L. Stoyanov, Katya Zehireva, Ventsislav Kisyov and Elijah Kostadinov.Drama Theatre "Racho Stoyanov" they performed in the library building "Aprilov-Palauzov."Priority in his repertoire are always classic and the new Bulgarian titles and comedies took over the lead.Participate in the prestigious theater festivals in Switzerland, Macedonia, Albania, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia, Egypt.He is the chief organizer of the International Comedy Festival show, which takes place during the second half of May, every odd year.

Gabrovo Regional History Museum

Important place in the cultural life of Gabrovo Regional History Museum occupies.Beginning his first historical meeting in Aprilov High School from 1883 year, the initiative of the headteacher Raicho Karolev.The rich collections of regional history museum includes exhibits from the Paleolithic period, from late antique civilization in these lands (IV - VI centuries BC), the First and Second Bulgarian Empire, the Turkish rule, from the Renaissance and the industrial boom of "Bulgarian Manchester" until today.The museum is housed in the former building of the Bulgarian National Bank.Beautiful, massive, multi-storey Baroque house was built in 1904 year Arch.Nikola Lazarov, ordered by family Hadjistoychev.The time now is reconstructed for the needs of the museum.The museum has a Hall of Fame, which held scientific conferences, presentations, presentation of new books.

Hristo Tsokev Art gallery

is an art gallery in the town of Gabrovo.The gallery was opened in 1974 year.It bears the name of an artist born Gabrovo Tsokev Christo, who was the first Bulgarian artist with professional education, graduated the Moscow Art School.The permanent exhibition of the gallery contains examples of the icons of the Tryavna art school.Spring is traditionally organized an exhibition of artists, an exhibition dedicated to the Day of Gabrovo, Christmas Exhibition, Autumn Salon.Along with visiting exhibitions, the gallery hosts different cultural events: the presentation of books, musical evenings and events, Chamber Music Days, Days of spiritual music in Gabrovo, celebrations of various service awards.

Gradishte Fortress

Gabrovo Church
