By Air

Gerardo Tobar Lopez Airport (IATA: BUN, ICAO: SKBU) is an airport in Buenaventura, Colombia.

By Bus

The bus station is close to the city center.There are frequent buses to and from Cali which is a 4 hours ride away for around 20,000 COP.Direct buses to Bogota leave at 7 am and 7 pm.If you're heading north, avoid going through Cali and catch a bus to Buga instead (16,000 COP).

By Ferry

The docks for cargo boats are on the way in to town.There are boats to most places along the Pacific coast.Fast boats (lanchas) to Ladrilleros and close destinations leave from the Muelle Turistico in the center of town (4,000 COP taxi ride from the terminal).

National Park Urambo Bahia Malaga

is located in the Coastal Region of the Pacific Coast, in the municipality of Buenaventura in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia.It is an area of high biodiversity, rather than discovery of Chelorchestia colombiensis and place preferred by humpback whales for breeding, making it a tourist destination for whale watching.Most of the land is virgin, except for small centers as Juanchaco, Ladrilleros and La Barra and a permanent monitoring of the Navy of Colombia.It is a popular destination for ecotourism.

Manigua Botanical Garden

is a botanical garden privately owned representative of the Colombian Pacific region.It is located within the National Park Urambo Malaga Bay in the village of Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, an hour by boat from the city of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.The Bushes Botanical Garden is dedicated to conservation, research and dissemination of natural and cultural diversity of the Colombian Pacific.Also active in ecotourism.Located on a cliff in the Pacific Ocean within the tropical region.It has 36,031 meters square of extension.Due to its location includes ecosystems of beaches, marshes and tropical rain forest or rainforest.

Pacific Folk Festival

Peregoyo de Oro Festival

Its first version was held in 1981 and it takes place in August every year.It is carried out in the Colombian town of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca and is organized by Casa de la Cultura.As a member of the Pacific Node of the National Network of Colombian Traditional Music Festivals it focuses on the spread of the music of the North and South Pacific regions of the country.The Festival is named after the musician Enrique Urbano Tenorio, better known as “Peregoyo”, one of the most prominent musicians of the Pacific region.The purpose of the event is to celebrate the ancient legacy of the harbor of Buenaventura and the great variety of cultural expressions such as Currulao dance, music, gastronomy and the presence of various ethnic families which prove their intangible heritage richness.The Marimba de Chonta Competition has been held since 2005. Marimba de chonta is a music instrument of the region. Likewise, the Currulao Dance Competition is held, in which a winner is selected among a hundred couples who dance at Chontaduro Stage at “Nestor Urbano Tenorio” Park.

Isla Malpelo

Declared a UNESCO site in 2006, is located 506 km from Buenaventura in the Pacific and is an acclaimed birdwatching haven with great diving opportunities.The island is considered to be one of the world's best places to observe hammerhead sharks in great numbers.Boats leave from Buenaventura, a 36-hour bumpy voyage.There are no places to stay on the island and camping is not allowed.
