Cathedral of Ayacucho

It is situated on the east side of the square of the city of Ayacucho.King Philip III of Spain ordered its construction by Royal Decree of July 5 of 1612, dedicating it to the Virgen de las Nieves, its actual construction took about forty years and was dedicated on May 19th of 1672.It has three naves of sober architecture contrasting with the delicacy of its interior space which is decorated with gold leaf altar in baroque style Churrigueresque also highlight the tabernacle of the altar covered with silver plates and the delicate sizes of their confessional and the pulpit.

Temple of Santo Domingo

It was the second temple was built Huamanga and in the mid- sixteenth and dedicated to the Virgen del Rosario.For documents then known to have been built with the stones of the ancient fortress of "Pukaray" Inca fortress which was in the ownership of Martin Andueza neighbor notable of the city.The facade stands the belfry of three arches to the left side and according to popular tradition was said to be the place where the Holy Inquisition punished heretics.

Plaza de Armas

It is located in the city center and is surrounded by buildings mostly dating from the XVI and XVII.It is one of the largest squares in Peru and a very beautiful monument for its high historical and architectural value.It has a level of harmony that unites all its components and made in the style of touring Spain such as Merida and Trujillo.The buildings surrounding the square are true works of architecture of the baroque colonial arches of stone and red clay roofs are catching from any angle.

Acuchimay viewpoint

Located in the district of Carmen Alto and is said was once a volcano.This is the official viewpoint, where a statue of Christ Redeemer, a small arena, a reception center, observation sites and arcades, where you can see much of the city.Site of the Battle of Acuchimay on February 18 of 1882 in which the Peruvian army under the command of Marshal Andrés Avelino Caceres defeated the Chilean army.

Pikimachay Cave

It is located 200 m from km 24 of road Ayacucho - Huanta.Here were found Paleolithic stone tools and bones of Andean animals whose antiquity dates back 20 000 years BC The prehistoric remains are now in the city of Huanta and are considered one of the oldest in South America.

Vilcashuaman Archaeological Site

It is located in the district of the same name, 118 km, the southeast of the city of Ayacucho to 3150 m.It is a sprawling, chaotic century XV.It was founded by Pachacutec and is considered one of the most important administrative centers Tahuantinsuyo.Vilcashuaman, which means "Sacred Falcon" is a collection of archaeological remains of an Inca city built to the architectural style of Cusco.The walls were built with stone blocks carved for a perfect fit.These monumental buildings are adorned with monolithic lintels trapezoidal doors as well as niches and alcoves.
