Adrspach Castle

The ruins of a medieval castle Adrspach is about 2 km west of present-day village Adrspach on inaccessible rocky plateau of Castle Hill at 681 nm.It was built probably in the second half of the 13th century during the reign of King Premysl Otakar II., or the beginning of the reign of John of Luxembourg.Who founded it exactly, is unknown.In 1355, the castle is mentioned in the draft Code of the Czech celozemskeho Majestas Carolina between the royal castles of Charles IV..From 1354-1359 he held it from Hanus Adrspach.Then there remained Freemen of vitriol.Since they bought it in 1363 Hynek of Nachod.Other zazamy are up from 1427, when it was owned by Hynek of Duba, an ally of Sigismund.During the Hussite wars here and there remained taborite their raids ravaged Silesia.In 1447, therefore, Silesian princes, together with the cities of Wroclaw and Swidnica the castle, along with others in the area, bought and then fell down.

Cross Hill

Holy Cross Church

Adrspach Lock

today also called Lower Adrspach, left in 1596 to build Adam Bohdanecky of Hodkov.Adam, along with his son and 39 other people also died in an explosion in Jicin castle in the dispute over the estate of Smiricky.For many years became the center of the local estate.The castle underwent a series of structural modifications.The last overhaul was in 1970.In areas of the castle was the Central State Archive.The building is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.Storey rectangular building with petihranou tower in the southern part.On the ground floor of the tower was a chapel.
